New York recording artist AbbiA has returned from a period of musical inactivity with “HIGH ANYMORE,” a new single examining the contradictions and disappointments of contemporary relationships. The Bronx native, whose work incorporates pop, rap, and rock influences, follows her debut release “STAYING INSIDE” with a composition informed by personal experience and a growing emphasis on emotional autonomy.
The premise behind “HIGH ANYMORE” is relatively straightforward, although its implications extend beyond the circumstances of one relationship. Drawing from an arrangement involving physical intimacy without meaningful commitment, AbbiA considers the imbalance that develops when one individual seeks greater emotional access while remaining unwilling to contribute the necessary attention or effort.
Of particular interest is the distinction between wanting companionship and accepting responsibility for another person’s expectations. AbbiA’s account of the experience reveals how easily casual relationships can become complicated by contradictory behavior, particularly when requests for closeness are unsupported by genuine consideration.
Rather than presenting the situation as a conventional account of romantic loss, the single places greater emphasis on discernment, personal accountability, and the decision to disengage from an arrangement that has ceased to offer anything worthwhile.
The release also signals a renewed period of activity for AbbiA, who is currently preparing an album scheduled for release between winter 2026 and spring 2027.
As her first new material following a hiatus, “HIGH ANYMORE” establishes a thematic direction concerned less with the pursuit of romantic validation than with the clarity required to recognize when a connection has run its course.
