INTERVIEW: Kendall Rucks

Kendall Rucks is not just a beautiful face, she is an extremely talented writer, producer, singer and artist with an incredible future ahead.  Having honed her skills in the city of LA, she is ready to take on the world and win over your heart.

Thank you for joining us Kendall, could you take a few minutes to tell our readers more about your beginnings in the industry?

Hi, hmmm…well I originally came to LA in order to be a part of a teen singing group (I think I was 13 at the time), the group eventually broke up (a few of us wanted to go after singles careers) but at that point, I was taking acting classes as well as performing music locally.  The LA bug had bit me and I couldn’t imagine doing anything different with my future.

Where do you see your career taking you within the next ten years?

These next 10 years are the ones where I really want to make an impact.  I currently have 14 songs ready for release beginning in August.  After that, I just want to write and record more and start touring.  As for where I’d like to be in 10 years,  I’d love to go on a few world tours and have a few films under my belt – nothing major lol!

You seems to have a love for vintage ideas, do you feel the days gone by were stronger in songwriting and music in general?

I do think artists were held to higher standards in the past. My favorite era of music is the late 60s into the 70s. Artists like Jim Morrison, Janis Joplin, Joni Mitchell, Hendrix, and more pushed boundaries and limits. Overall I think music in this age is repetitive.  I’d like to create my own path and make music that’s reminiscent of a time long ago with a modern twist to it. Paying homage to real instruments and meaningful lyrics that has sustained music for so long. You wont be catching me using apple loops or hiring ghost writers anytime soon, lol.

What have been your most memorable shows so far?

Well, I love performing at The Viper Room – the crowd there is always so great and I love the history of that place.  I’m hoping to do some college tours next year – that would be amazing.

When you pack up for a gig, what do you take along?

I forget everything!!! I try to pack all the usual stuff especially water and chap stick…oh, and my Tarot cards…I never leave home without them.

When can we expect to see your new album coming out?

I’ll start to release singles from my album beginning in AUGUST! I can’t wait. “Blood Money” will be the first release – be on the LOOKOUT!

Thank you for being with us today.

Thank you for having me!
