The Funeral Portrait Return With New Single “My Future Prediction”

Acclaimed alternative rock outfit The Funeral Portrait are back with “My Future Prediction,” a new single and accompanying lyric video out now via Better Noise Music. Marking the Atlanta collective’s first release of 2026, the track arrives amid growing anticipation from the band’s devoted fanbase, offering a fresh glimpse into the theatrical, genre-blurring sound that has made them one of modern rock’s compelling acts.

Blending alternative, emo, post-hardcore, and rock, “My Future Prediction” builds its appeal around a hypnotic soundscape, theatrical flourishes, and an infectious, chant-ready chorus. The accompanying visual further expands the band’s creative world through an arresting narrative and an energetic presentation.

At its heart, however, the song takes aim at the tendency to romanticize a relationship despite mounting evidence that it may be destined to fail. Vocalist Lee Jennings explains:

“‘My Future Prediction’ is about convincing yourself that a relationship is perfect, even when every warning sign is telling you otherwise. It’s about ignoring the red flags, romanticizing the cracks, and building an entire future in your head with someone you already know, deep down, isn’t the one. Sometimes we fall in love with the life we imagined more than the person standing in front of us.”

That tension between fantasy and reality gives the track its emotional center, pairing a relatable subject with the band’s larger-than-life musical instincts. With “My Future Prediction,” The Funeral Portrait kick off their 2026 release campaign with a powerful reminder of their knack for turning complicated feelings into anthemic alternative rock.
