Hyperpop/electro-punk artist Boy Sim has released the accompanying music video for his latest single, “Cloud Nine.” This upbeat post-breakup anthem is an unskippable track for anyone trying to move on from a romanticized version of their previous relationship. Blending intoxicating hooks and rebellious lyricism, this track offers a pop-punk edge perfect for blasting in the car with the windows down. Watch the music video HERE.

With the release of this new music video, Boy Sim has successfully captured “Cloud Nine’s” high-octane energy and manifested it into a dynamic visual experience. The opening shot of Boy Sim overlooking a garden in Versailles, France, is the first of many iconic cities featured throughout the music video. Filming in Tokyo, Paris, Italy, and Los Angeles, Boy Sim takes viewers on a global adventure that would surely be a welcome distraction for any broken heart. The entire video formulates a vibrant atmosphere that shows how expansive the world can be once you break toxic ties. While the track’s lyrics convey an underlying layer of sadness and denial, the video fully leans into a perspective of unwavering optimism and positive manifestation. With quick cuts, saturated colors, and euphoric imagery, this video is a mesmerizing feel-good accompaniment to Boy Sim’s new release.

“‘Cloud Nine’ is about that weird period after a breakup when you start performing happiness so convincingly that it almost becomes real, yet you keep finding yourself talking about them. I wanted the chorus to feel almost absurdly sweet and euphoric, like I’m manifesting a perfect life out loud, even if part of me still isn’t really sure I believe it.” – Boy Sim

While bright and bouncy in the melody, the song has a deeper meaning about the uncomfortable timeframe after a romance ends when you start pretending you’re happy to make people think you’re ok. In doing this, you almost trick yourself into believing it as well. The video expands on this narrative, showing Boy Sim living seemingly carefree and having fun as he explores locations across three continents. With Boy Sim in the director’s chair, the music video for “Cloud Nine” was produced by SleepxTite and filmed by LORENZO and Dabir Nawabi.
