Platinum Artist Jaden Bojsen Follows His Insomniac Records Debut with New Gospel-Leaning House Single “Mama Used To Say”

Piano stabs, warm organ chords and a vocal line with the lift of a church choir set the tone for “Mama Used To Say,” the new track from Jaden Bojsen, out now on Still Be Around. Laid over a deep, rolling bassline and a hook that repeats until it sticks, the record takes its cues from 90s vocal house – the raw, soulful energy of that era – and delivers it with the weight and clarity of modern club production. It’s a clear change of mood from his previous release: in June, Jaden made his Insomniac Records debut with “ERICA” on the label’s Gotta Move imprint, a stripped-back, late-night tech-house cut built around spoken word and aimed at the darker end of a set. Where “ERICA” went low and minimal, “Mama Used To Say” opens things up, trading the sparse, after-hours mood for keys, organ and something warmer and more communal, made for peak time. Together, the two singles show a producer moving between club styles while keeping a song-first approach at the core of everything he makes.

Jaden Bojsen is a Los Angeles-based DJ, producer and songwriter who makes most of his music in his home studio in California. He first made his name as the frontman of New District, which BRAVO named the most popular boy band of 2016, and has won a US Teen Choice Award, before turning his focus to dance music production. Since then, he has released “Let’s Go and “Upside Down” with David Guetta via Spinnin’ Records and the solo single “Lighthouse,” and has played clubs and festivals across Europe, Asia and the US, including Ultra Music Festival. When he’s away from the studio and the road, he can usually be found surfing in Malibu.
