Just outside Sacramento, in the stretch of California that runs through Cameron Park and the surrounding hills, two brothers have been quietly putting in the work. Gabriel Franks, known as Kidd Aeriez, and Danny Franks II, known as RTCHTBOY, are the force behind The Kidd The Boy Productions. They are independent hip-hop artists, alternative rappers, songwriters, and producers who refuse to rush the process or dilute what they make.
Music was never a side hobby for them. Both have loved it since they were kids. Both started writing and producing around age 12. They wrote their first songs at that age, too. RTCHTBOY came at it with a writer’s instinct—short stories in mystery and horror genres filled his early years—while both brothers soaked up the California hip-hop scene and the family influences that surrounded them. West Coast sounds, performing arts, different cultures of music. The passion stuck. So did the belief that they had something of their own to offer.
They did not jump online the moment the first tracks felt good. They spent years experimenting, refining, and holding the work until it felt right. In 2023 they connected with a professional engineer and studio. Their first official releases arrived in late 2024. That patience was deliberate. They wanted music they could stand behind without apology.
The path has not been smooth. Studio time, production software, recording equipment, and marketing all cost money. Both brothers work regular jobs and carry everyday responsibilities while pouring resources into the craft. That grind taught them discipline and the real price of investing in yourself. As brothers they also bring different ideas into the same room. Sometimes they create together. Other times a song clearly belongs to one of them, and the other steps back. Respect, clear communication, and the willingness to be blunt keep the process moving.
What sets them apart is the hands-on approach. They record, mix, and master much of their own material. They produce some of their own beats. They stay original and organic even while pulling inspiration from different cultures and styles. They are not interested in safe music or chasing trends. Vulnerability is part of the point. They keep it raw, real, and evolving. Labels and critiques do not scare them off the path.
Recognition has started to arrive. A feature in The Source marked a clear step forward. They have also connected with a major publisher and distributor, opening the door to broader catalog management. Those moments sit alongside the quieter progress of simply finding and polishing a sound that feels like theirs.
Right now they are in the building stage—laying foundations rather than declaring arrival. The vision is larger. They want to grow the musical movement, establish the brand, headline stages, and put their music into movies, commercials, and video games. They hope the work reaches people and leaves something positive behind.
Kidd Aeriez × RTCHTBOY are not waiting for the industry to hand them a lane. They are carving one, track by track, with the same focus that started when they were twelve years old and writing songs because they had to. The sound is still taking shape. The work continues.
