Renowned film composer and record producer Tyler Bates teams up with darkwave/industrial rock auteurs HEALTH, and drummer Puma (of Sunday (1994), Kenny Hoopla) for a new single collaboration, Outer Dark, released on Gravel and Echo Recordings, Bates’ label with Grammy-winning engineer, Robert Carranza, distributed worldwide by Virgin Media Group. Brooding and ethereal, the track is anchored by Jake Duzsik’s soft, unsettling vocals backed by a driving drum performance – HEALTH’s industrial pulse filtered through Bates’ rock and cinematic instincts. Lyrically, the track channels unresolved anger – a venomous reckoning aimed at someone who caused harm; a feeling most listeners will recognize.
“My collaborative work with Health began in 2014 with Atomic Blonde and continued through the Dark Nights Death Metal soundtrack and into recent times,” says Bates. “Outer Dark feels to me like the natural evolution of our work together – while taking it somewhere entirely new.”
