Two Researchers from the University of Washington Will Study the Climate Change in the Arctic

Even if you study in college and your major does not correlate with the questions of global warming and climate change, you still need to be aware of what is happening to our planet. You might have heard that the Arctic has dramatically warmed over the past several decades. However, it was impossible to do any long-term observations during winter times. Water freezes making it unmanageable to continue any expeditions. Everything has changed thanks to the unique floating research platform.

It is now feasible for a team of researchers to make observations during a year. Two students from the University of Washington – Bonnie Light and Madison Smith – are among those who will take part in the expedition starting in Norway. This fact indicates and proves once again that UW provides students with the necessary knowledge and skills to be valued by other professionals around the globe. What does it take to enroll there and get the chance to become the next bright mind of our century? One of the biggest obstacles is writing the University of Washington essay.

Prepare to Overcome the Obstacles

Creative writing is challenging. If you add to the existing mixture of writer’s block and lack of time the fact that your future depends on how good your essay turns out to be, the task becomes even more challenging. It may seem that every sentence you write is not good enough for attracting the attention of an application committee. Writing a University of Washington essay is also complicated by the fact that there are specific requirements you must fulfill. Another stressful factor is that you will have to submit several literary pieces along with your profile information. If you don’t want to get frustrated, you can appeal to a step-by-step process of writing.

Making Small Steps

Any task becomes less frightening when you break it down to smaller components. To write an outstanding University of Washington supplemental essay, here are possible steps you want to make.

  • Decide what to write about in your piece. You have experienced many ups and downs. All of those moments have shaped you into the person you are now. The goal is to choose the episodes from your life that mean a lot to you and can show your uniqueness to the committee. It does not mean that if you still haven’t been a researcher in the expedition to the North Pole you have nothing to write about. Even the story of how you have saved a kitten from a tree can make a difference if you manage to tell it right.

  • Make sure your essay has a structure. As you understand, a member of the application committee does not have a lot of time to attentively read the essays of all the applicants. Your story has up to one minute to grab the attention and impress that member. A rigid structure will help your reader to skip from one paragraph to another faster without losing the train of your thoughts. Use UW essay prompts if needed to make sure you do everything properly.

  • Avoid making grammar mistakes. This point is pretty obvious but worth mentioning. Not only the words you choose and your personal writing style matter. If you make mistakes, you are not going to impress anyone at UW. Proofread your piece and let someone you trust proofread it for you. You can never be too meticulous.

Searching for Inspiration

What every college is looking for in an applicant is passion and inspiration. If a person is motivated to pursue personal and professional growth, that person will find a way to make a strong impression. To get the inspiration and make your eyes twinkle with interest, read the stories of other students and recent graduates. If you want to be like them, there is nothing that can stop you. Whether you dream of becoming the next environmental activist or financial genius, it all depends on your will to reach the set goals. Choose the university that fits your requirements and bring your dream to life. You already know how to do it – making small steps.
