INTERVIEW: Four AM

Hi guys, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?

CJ: Good, thank you.

Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Into The Light”?

CJ: “Into the Light” was the first Four AM song & it’s not online right now because it’s getting rereleased.

Did any event in particular inspire you to write this song?

CJ: A few late nights in Santa Monica talking & singing with my friend Adrian.

What was it like to work with Adrian and how did he come on board?

CJ: Like ships in the night.

What did he brought up to the table?

CJ: SOUL, BABY! During “Into the Light” we made some gospel songs together. One of the guys he brought in is playing with Sunday Service now. Beyond that, Adrian’s foundation in Jazz & Latin drumming makes for some really cool Pop music.

How do you guys go on sharing and balancing each of your creative inputs and ideas?

CJ: Usually we get lunch instead.

Any plans to release a video for the single?

CJ: No, but go check out Destination https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=haFGYJH3Yyo

The single comes off your new self-titled EP – why naming it the moniker?

CJ: The EP is actually all unreleased songs, it will be self titled though 🙂

How was the recording and writing process?

CJ: It’s been a couple years, my friends are very supportive and patient.

Would you call this a departure from your previous musical work?

CJ: Yes.

What role does California play in your music?

CJ: Los Angeles is important to Four AM. This EP is a very romantic take on city nights. Four AM is an echo of the party.

How would you say your upbringing has influenced your writing?

CJ: A race against time.

Where did you find the inspiration for the songs and lyrics?

CJ: I’ve left a lot of parties.

Any plans to hit the road?

CJ: I would love to play more shows with the band.

What else is happening next in Four AM’s world?

CJ: Come with me & find out.
