Chicago-born pop artist Lindsay Boven turns the impulse to escape into something far more revealing on her new single, “Night Drive.” Released October 2, the track is the first glimpse of her forthcoming sophomore album, Louder.
Built around bright synths and punchy drums, “Night Drive” carries the momentum of a late-night getaway, but its emotional core points in the opposite direction. Boven uses the open road as a metaphor for avoidance, exploring the moment when running from a problem starts to feel harder than confronting it.
It also sets up the wider themes behind Louder, an album centered on finding your voice, confronting uncomfortable truths and having the confidence to live according to what matters.
Boven brings an unusual perspective to that subject. Away from music, she works as a head and neck surgeon, an experience that has shaped her understanding of resilience and the way priorities can suddenly come into focus during difficult moments.
Following her debut album Waiting for Midnight and 2026 collaboration “Pantomime Villain,” which premiered through BBC Introducing, “Night Drive” feels like the beginning of a more assured chapter: polished cinematic pop with enough emotional tension underneath to give the shine some weight.
