Hi Zach, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?

I am doing great; doing what I love everyday.

Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Dark”?

I wrote “Dark” about 2 years ago while I was in London. The song is a really meaningful for me. (continued in depth below)

Did any event in particular inspire you to write this song?

The song was inspired by a 2 year period of my life in which I was dealing with some intense stuff that resulted in a heavy depression. The song is written out of that place, to inspire hope to anyone going through a similar place. Sometimes we as people just need to know that we’re not alone in our worst moments.

Any plans to release a video for the single?

I have been talking to some video producers, but nothing is set in stone yet. Stay tuned!

How was the recording and writing process?

The writing process was “beautifully difficult” in that the song speaks to a hard time of my life; on the other hand it was easy as the lyrics and sound came out naturally as the song progressed.

Known for playing with different genres – how do you balance them altogether?

I try to string all of my songs together with a reoccurring theme: story. As long as I feel like I am telling real stories through each of my songs, then I don’t see the different genres as conflicting, but rather they are telling stories in different ways.

What role does Portland play in your writing?

Portland allows me to be free in myself. The culture of this city enables me to feel bold in sharing my journey as an Artist.

Does your new single mean we can expect a new album – how’s that coming along?

I actually just finished the production on what will be my new EP! So yes, it does mean that.

Any tentative release date or title in mind?

I’ll most likely release the full EP in a few months, and the title is yet to be announced.

Any plans to hit the road?

For now, I am playing a lot of shows in Portland. My hope is that come Fall 2018 I will be on the road.

What else is happening next in Zach Wolf’s world?

For now, I am just writing a lot of new music. I have been going through a lot of transition in my personal life, and that always means a lot of new songs for me.

Thank you VENTS! 🙂
