From Northern California’s Underground Scene, Billy Stuart Emerges With Debut EP ‘Sink With Me’

After more than two decades immersed in music, Sacramento-based musician Billy Stuart has entered a new phase of his career with Sink With Me, an independently released five-song collection documenting the intersection of personal upheaval and artistic reinvention.

The EP introduces Stuart’s solo work following years spent performing with Northern California hardcore punk and doom metal ensembles. His transition toward alternative folk and introspective songwriting reflects a deliberate reconsideration of musical expression rather than an abandonment of his formative influences.

The project’s origins extend as far back as 2008, with compositions developed at different stages of Stuart’s life eventually finding common ground in themes of estrangement, psychological uncertainty, and the difficult negotiations inherent in human relationships.

Central to the recording was Sacramento producer Michael Cox, whose contributions encompassed percussion, bass, strings, and production. Cox tragically died following a collision involving an impaired driver in March 2026, before the pair could complete their final scheduled recording session.

His passing lends an additional dimension of poignancy to a collection already concerned with impermanence and the consequences of loss.

Stuart describes the project as an exploration of circumstances in which familiar attachments become untenable, yet the prospect of departure remains equally unsettling.

Featuring artwork by Charlie Wagers, Sink With Me represents both a professional milestone and a lasting testament to a creative partnership interrupted by tragedy.
