We’re very excited to have some time today with acclaimed and award-winning actor Kevin O’Sullivan; greetings and salutations, Kevin, and thanks for taking time out of a busy schedule to speak with us here at Vents Magazine! Before we dive down the Q&A celluloid-lined rabbit hole, how is 2026 finding you and yours?
In a word, busy! But I love it! The work is challenging, and yet I am so thrilled to be working in this industry. I’m juggling acting and family life, so you could say I don’t have a lot of downtime right now, but I wouldn’t change it for the world. I hope the roles just keep getting bigger and bigger, and I’m looking forward to what 2026 has in store for me.
Speaking of that packed-to-the-rafters workload, major kudos and accolades on your upcoming duo of new vertical series! Starting at the top, what can you tell our ever-inquisitive reading audience about the deliciously decadent-sounding In Love with My Mom’s Boyfriend?
Thank you for asking! Well, for this vertical series, the producers renamed it from “In Love with My Mom’s Boyfriend” to “Bite Me, My Mafia Daddy,” and it’s now released on DramaWave. I have a supporting role alongside Robert Palmer Watkins of “General Hospital” and Marie Elizabeth DeWitt. I play a character who kills the mafia king’s mother, resulting in my demise, where I am tied up and threatened by Watkins’ character. Let’s just say that it doesn’t end up well for my character in the end! Great cast and crew on this series. I had so much fun!
What’s the scoop on yet another much-buzzed about series which features your superlative acting prowess, The Legal Queen? What’s it about, and how does your character figure into the proceedings?
Hahaha! I like how you incorporated the word “proceedings” into this question-very clever! The Legal Queen title was changed at the time of release too! It’s now titled “The Legal Queen’s Comeback” and stars Hanna Kemp, Ben Schreen, Kayleigh Marie Cook, Talia Bellucci, and other talented cast members. I star as David Collins in a villainous role (yes, another bad guy) who, along with his niece (played by Kayleigh Marie Cook), kidnaps and holds hostage a bunch of lawyers until The Legal Queen (Hanna Kemp) and CEO (Ben Schreen) act and ultimately punish my niece and I, and banish us to prison! What a fun time that was. This series can be seen on DramaBox.
Word ‘round industry campfire has it that you’re set to give audiences the heebie jeebies in an upcoming widely anticipated horror film entitled CHOLERIC; congrats! What’s this new movie about? And have you always had a sort of sweet tooth for the horror genre?
Yes! I’m set to co-star in the upcoming film Choleric, a psychological horror-thriller scheduled for release in 2026. The film centers on a former child star who is pressured into a new publicity stunt while struggling with the weight of manufactured fame. As her life begins to unravel, a haunting figure from her past resurfaces. Let’s just say I play a very bad man! Choleric stars Morgan Warren and is directed by Sebastian Fabres. In real life, I’m a huge fan of horror films. It’s so weird to me that I actually got to work in one that it blows my mind!
Can you talk about how you ultimately landed upon the pathway to being such a gifted and versatile actor? Who are some of the folks, both in and out of the industry, who have inspired your own trajectory?
I am very lucky to have both supporters in the industry as well as in my personal life. I started my career studying at The Maryland Academy of Dramatic Arts in Bethesda, Maryland, and The American Academy of Dramatic Arts in Pasadena, California. I have been blessed by some of the terrific acting coaches I’ve had over the years—too many to mention! Acting is a constant learning process. You learn from every actor and director you work with over the years.
Your first credited work as an actor came in the form of an episode of Superior Court. Any special memories of that freshman production?
Wow, that is taking me back a few years. I remember I was full of nervous energy, which, looking back, gave me that extra rush of excitement being on camera. It seemed to happen so fast, but after it was over, I remember the director Joseph Behar and legendary lead actor Raymond St. Jacques came over and told me what a great job I did. I knew then and there that acting is the job I want to do for the rest of my life.
As an actor, you worked on one of our all-time favorite films, Cop Land, which featured a tour de force performance from Sylvester Stallone, as well as beautiful turns from the likes of Michael Rappaport, Robert De Niro, Harvey Keitel, and Ray Liotta, among many others! As we approach the 30th anniversary of this film, are you still surprised that it didn’t get a better reception at the box office?
I agree! Sylvester Stallone gave a great performance. Probably one of his best, next to the first Rocky. It was amazing to watch him work alongside people like Mr. DeNiro and Mr. Liotta. What a rare opportunity for me as an actor just to be in the presence of these great actors of my generation. Over the years, I believe the movie has had a reemergence of an underground following. I can still watch the film and be in awe of it. It holds up!
When you’re not entertaining audiences with your acting, what do you enjoy doing outside of that profession?
When I’m not acting, I love spending time with my family and friends. My wife is a big equestrian enthusiast, and our daughter is a multi-talented high school student, and I love encouraging their passions. The rest of my free time is spent catching up on movies and shows, keeping up with my exercise routines, and enjoying being around friends.
You were born in Los Angeles, California, and raised in Potomac, Maryland. How have these seemingly disparate locales informed you as an actor and as a person?
I look back and think to myself, I had the best of both worlds! I had an East Coast mentality growing up in Maryland, so close to Washington, D.C. But in the back of my mind, I knew I wanted to get back to LA. I knew my future was going to be in film and television, and LA was the place to be! Over the years, I’ve moved from LA to the East Coast and back again. I’m currently living in Virginia, which is only a short three-hour drive to New York City, and a lot of my current film work is there. I do come out to LA for filming, and it always feels like coming home when I’m there. Who knows, perhaps I will return to live in LA for pilot season or working on a long-term project, but I’m really enjoying being part of both worlds.
Final – SILLY! – Question: Favorite movie about the making of movies – Living in Oblivion, Swimming with Sharks, The Big Picture, The Player, or Barton Fink?
I love ALL those films! I discovered The Big Picture years ago, and I loved Kevin Bacon’s performance. And, of course, you can’t forget Sunset Boulevard and The Bad and the Beautiful. I am something of a film geek, and I love all the movies you mentioned!
