On average, most people get less than six hours of sleep a night. For some people it may be amazing that people can survive off of less than six hours and for others it is a necessity of life. Unfortunately, these types of schedules reduce your ability to function.
So what is a “better” sleep schedule? Having a better sleep schedule means that you are getting at least six hours of sleep or more. Keep in mind that that is for most people in the world. That doesn’t always mean that more sleep is going to be better for everyone because some people don’t function well on normal sleep hours: that’s okay!

Getting enough sleep is going to increase mental stability by fortifying you with enough rest to fight through your battles during the day. Keep in mind that mental battles and emotional battles can also take a lot of energy out of you: this is normal.
With enough sleep, you have a better foundation for emotional and mental stability support instead of feeling like you are losing your sanity.
Improved Cognition
Not sleeping enough is also going to affect your ability to learn and understand anything around you. While our bodies can go into automode when it comes to driving or walking to familiar places, that ability to go into auto mode isn’t always a good thing or helpful with remembering information or getting through the day.
This is why sleep is so important: it helps your brain keep up with the daily flow and processing of information.

If you don’t sleep, then your body can’t direct energy towards healing. Believe it or not, we accidentally hurt ourselves daily. There are also many people that also have to deal with chronic injuries or general chronic pain. This is wearing mentally and physically. What does that require? Sleep!
For your body to heal appropriately and spend time restoring itself, you have to get enough sleep. Otherwise inflammation, pain, and other symptoms are just going to get worse and worse.

Here’s the kicker to everything. If you are feeling like you aren’t productive, you have too much on your plate to get through and a constant state of being overwhelmed might as well be a hobby, then sleep is probably what you need. Getting enough sleep is going to help you get through the day and get done what you need to get done.

Well, this loops back to each of the previous points. When you have enough energy, stability, and cognition, you are going to increase your ability to think through tasks which leads to higher productivity.

The longest recorded awake time for a person is 11 days and for good reason. Sleep deprivation decreases pretty much any mental faculties. Hysterics, depression, delusions, hallucinations and more are a direct result of zero to little sleep.
In a world where sleep is so rare, it is important to covet that sleep as much as you possibly can. Go to bed at a good time that guarantees at least six hours of sleep. Anything less than that is going to have long-term negative effects on your mind and body.
