There are songs that make you want to stay exactly where you are, and then there are songs that make you want to get in the car, roll down the windows and leave everything behind. The Gatsby Affair’s “Take Me Away” belongs firmly in the second category.
Today, we’re premiering the new video for “Take Me Away,” the latest visual offering from the Los Angeles-based pop/alt-rock band. Led by frontman and guitarist Ron Beem, The Gatsby Affair brings an energetic, melodic approach to rock that feels built for open roads, summer nights and the simple freedom of getting away from it all.
The song itself captures that feeling immediately. “Take Me Away” is driven by a restless desire for movement and escape, pairing its upbeat rock foundation with lyrics about leaving the past behind and chasing something that feels more hopeful. The track centers on the thrill of getting out of a familiar place and embracing whatever might be waiting on the other side.

The Gatsby Affair has been developing its own blend of pop, alternative rock and classic rock influences for years, with Beem at the center of the project. The band’s catalog stretches back to its 2015 self-titled release, with subsequent singles including “Touchdown,” “Because I Met You,” “Dirty Dancer,” “Found You” and “Gone For Good.”
“Take Me Away” fits naturally into that progression while leaning into the band’s more carefree side. The song’s central road-trip imagery gives it an easy sense of motion, while its melodic hooks keep the track immediately accessible. Released in July 2025, the single runs just over three and a half minutes and marks another chapter in The Gatsby Affair’s ongoing run of independent releases.
The accompanying video brings that spirit to life, giving “Take Me Away” a visual counterpart that matches the song’s desire to break free and move forward. Rather than treating escape as something distant or complicated, the video embraces the uncomplicated excitement of simply getting out and going somewhere.
That sense of freedom is ultimately what makes “Take Me Away” work. There’s a youthful quality to the song, but it’s not necessarily about a particular age.
