From Midtown to Monolith: How the Collaboration Began
Every artist’s journey includes defining moments that shape their direction and open new creative opportunities. For me, one of those turning points came when I moved to New York City to pursue my passion for tattoo artistry. After spending about a year working in a Midtown Manhattan tattoo studio, I began hearing growing buzz about a new and ambitious creative space—Monolith Studio. This studio was being developed by well-known tattoo artists Okan Uckun and Oscar Akermo, both recognized for their innovation, artistic vision, and influence in the modern tattoo industry.
As I followed their progress and saw their vision come to life, I felt a strong connection to what they were building. Monolith Studio wasn’t just another tattoo shop—it represented a new standard in tattoo culture, combining creativity, professionalism, and a unique client-focused experience. Curious and inspired, I reached out and requested a guest spot, hoping to experience the studio environment firsthand and connect with the team.
The moment I walked into Monolith, I immediately understood the hype. The studio had a distinct atmosphere—clean, modern, and creatively charged. It reflected not only high-end tattoo artistry but also a strong sense of identity and purpose. Sitting down with Okan and Oscar, we had in-depth conversations about art, tattoo design, branding, and the evolving role of tattoo artists in today’s creative space. It quickly became clear that we shared similar values and a forward-thinking mindset. What started as a short guest spot soon turned into something much bigger, and I officially became part of the Monolith Studio team.

A New Perspective: Growing Alongside Industry Leaders
Working alongside experienced artists like Okan Uckun and Oscar Akermo has had a significant impact on my professional growth. Their approach goes far beyond technical tattoo skills—they emphasize creativity, branding, and building a strong identity as a tattoo artist. Being part of this environment has helped me refine my own style, improve my attention to detail, and better understand the importance of client experience in the tattoo industry.
They’ve encouraged me to think about tattooing not just as a craft, but as a complete creative journey. From consultation to final design, every step matters. I’ve learned how personal branding, social presence, and storytelling play a key role in building a successful career in modern tattoo culture. Their mentorship has pushed me to evolve, experiment, and continuously improve my work while staying true to my artistic vision.
Looking Ahead: Building the Future Together
Being part of Monolith Studio means constantly looking forward and exploring new opportunities. As a team, we are working on exciting projects that go beyond traditional tattooing. One of these includes launching a podcast, where we aim to share insights into tattoo artistry, creative processes, and the stories behind our work. This platform will allow us to connect with a wider audience and give people a deeper understanding of the tattoo industry.
On a personal level, I am also focused on securing a long-term visa to continue my journey in the United States. This will allow me to keep growing as a tattoo artist, collaborate with talented professionals, and welcome clients from around the world into the Monolith Studio experience.
In the end, being part of Monolith Studio is more than just working in a tattoo shop—it’s about contributing to a movement that is redefining modern tattoo artistry. It’s about pushing creative boundaries, building meaningful connections, and shaping the future of the tattoo industry. I’m proud to be part of this journey and excited for what lies ahead.
