Martin Scorsese And Billions Creators’ Vegas Series Ready For Filming

Legendary Hollywood director Martin Scorsese is working with Billions and Ocean’s Thirteen co-writers Brian Koppelman and David Levien. The team is working on a currently untitled Netflix series set in modern-day Las Vegas.

While scant details have been provided about the series, other than a brief synopsis, it has been rumoured that filming is set to start in May – viewers could see the series air in late 2027, although a 2028 launch looks more likely.

Las Vegas holds a special place in the hearts of movie and TV lovers. Bright lights set against a desert backdrop, visual spectacles like the Fountains of Bellagio and the Seven Magic Mountains combine with an illustrious history to provide the perfect setting. Then, there’s the draw of the city’s casino tables.

Casino games feature on TV, the silver screen, and in video games. For those who can’t make the trip to Nevada, there are online equivalents, like baccarat games at Paddy’s, as well as a raft of online slots – the games combining the excitement of Vegas with the comfort and convenience of home.

Scorsese is no stranger to the appeal of Sin City. In 1995, he directed Robert de Niro, Sharon Stone, and Joe Pesci in the multi-award-winning Casino. In the production of Netflix’s new series, he is joined by Brian Koppelman and David Levien. The duo previously worked together on political drama and were co-writers of the Las Vegas heist movie Ocean’s Thirteen. They also wrote the poker-themed Rounders movie, which launched in 1998. The team certainly has previous form.

Netflix announced the upcoming series in December.

According to their early synopsis states that the drama is set in the “high-stakes, sharp-elbowed present-day Las Vegas casino business”, showing an insight into how the famous city is going to be represented in the series.

Other team members have been announced. Koppelman and Levien will serve as showrunners and executive producers, as well as writers. Julie Yorn and Rick Yorn of Expanded Media will also serve as executive producers, along with Paul Schiff and Beth Schacter. Kerry Orent will be co-executive producer.

It is still very early in the development. No official news or even rumours have circulated regarding casting, although an official announcement should be coming soon. But Netflix has confirmed that the show will run eight episodes, each an hour long, and Production Weekly has suggested filming is slated to start in May.

Although Netflix has a long list of movies and TV shows set in Las Vegas, there are surprisingly few Vegas-based Netflix Originals.

The streaming service did launch Strip Law in February 2026. The animated series centers on a struggling Las Vegas lawyer, Lincoln Gumb, who hires a magician to help drum up business for his practice. The Netflix Original, Obliterated, was also set in Las Vegas.
