Born At Midnite Announce Debut Album, Eternal BAM Nation, out 6/26 via Arbutus Records

Born At Midnite — the Montreal-based duo of Amery Sandford and David Carriere — announce their debut album, Eternal BAM Nation, out June 26th via Arbutus Records, and in conjunction release the lead single/visualizer, “Smash.” For the last half decade, Born At Midnight have been casually careening towards “coolest band around” status; playing into – whilst poking fun at – our eraʼs omnipresent narcissism and self indulgence, the group stitch together an unsponsored sort of “product-placement-punk.”

Sandford, a visual artist and easy-going pop songstress who recently released her first solo record Amery – Continue As Amery, and Carrier, a producer, songwriter, and guitarist in the bands TOPS and Marci, officially formed circa 2020 when, after jamming for fun, they recorded their first song and namesake, “Born At Midnite.” Instead of overworked sob stories

for short term gains, Born At Midnight prefers the “pose and get chose” method. Since 2020, they have been drip feeding songs to an ever-growing following of discerning teenagers and in-the-know retail employees, which in the fall of 2025 culminated in their first singles compilation, Every Single Time.

So what is the inverse of a wish that comes with a terrible curse? It is something that nobody asked for but protects from eternal damnation: itʼs Eternal BAM Nation, the long awaited yet quickly constructed debut record from Born At Midnite. And you know these eleven and a half songs are stabbing at the heart of the matter.

Lead single “Smash” is a two minute anthem in two parts. It begins with a hyper-petty, hyper-speed diss track dedicated to a loser ex-boyfriend, and ends in a drowsy celebration hanging with your friends in the park after dark. Itʼs post egg and post chain—something for every punk.

Watch Visualizer for “Smash”

Eternal BAM Nation was written and recorded over the summer of 2025 in Sandford & Carriereʼs inconspicuous Montreal studio, tucked above a chic baby clothing shop. Maximum rock out, minimal effort, quick and amazing results. Aiming to be F1 fast, Born At Midnite aspires to be the one hour photo of music. Painting with shades of punk, techno, house, and new wave, the band feigns themes of self importance, world-be-crazy negligence, and that me-first yolo-ness thatʼs become the standard in today’s music.

Employing samplers, fake drums, tape machine, and in-house art, all at a work-from-home pace, Born At Midnite are not your garden variety drag-and-drop producers. They are a vertically integrated song machine.
