Rising artist Sonia Stein releases her newest pop gem ‘Hell Ride’, whilst announcing her upcoming EP, set for release on March 20th.
Catchy from the first listen, ‘Hell Ride’ balances crystal-clear vocals with a soaring chorus and punchy melodies – making for a track that is impossible not to replay. The track nods to the slick, melodic sensibilities of HAIM and the hook heavy sparkle of The Aces, radiating a confidence that makes you feel like you can take on the world. Shimmering guitars and crisp production set the tone from the get-go, layered beneath Sonia’s glittering vocals, as she sings about the intoxicating feeling of an all encompassing, gut-wrenching love: ‘what you do to me should be criminal / cause life without you is one bad hell ride’.
Speaking on the meaning behind the single, Sonia said: “Hell Ride is a song that leans into the obsessive, all consuming nature of being devoted to someone past the point of it feeling healthy or normal but embracing it anyway. Thematically it feels like the big sister of Insatiable, but even more unhinged and self indulgent. I had such a fun time fully letting this character take over for this song, something I think younger me was always a little indignant about even though it was younger me who felt the most of this kind of emotion. At the time it didn’t feel like something I should be shouting/singing about.”
Sonia just performed an intimate, session-style gig on a canal boat in Maida Vale on 18th February, where she performed hits from her upcoming EP to a select number of fans and industry folk. Sonia performed seven months pregnant, glowing and thriving.
Stemming from an early rooted love for the piano – a foundation that still threads through her creative identity – Sonia brings the same sense of intention to her life offstage, where her commitment to sustainability and mindful, slow living runs through both her artistry and her day-to-day choices. And, now, navigating pregnancy, she’s documenting how her changing body, voice, and diaphragm are subtly reshaping her relationship with music, adding a new layer of vulnerability and curiosity to her work. With Polish heritage and a career that’s seen her tour the world with Dido and join major UK runs with Lucy Spraggan and James Arthur, she continues to expand her story from her home in London/Warsaw, blending personal evolution and global experience into the heart of her artistry.
