Sprint sold its international operations to the Japanese telecom SoftBank in 2013, and in July of that year, the two companies announced a merger with Japanese mobile carrier and internet service provider Yahoo! Japan. The new company, which was named Sprint Corporation, had a total subscriber base of 96 million.
