K-pop icon SEVENTEEN’s DINO is set to make his official debut as his beloved alter ego, Picheolin, with the release of his 1st Mini Album 吉BOARD(Gilboard) on August 3.
The album title 吉BOARD is a creative reinterpretation of the 1990s Korean street music culture known as “Gilboard” (“gil” meaning street in Korean) — a witty take on Billboard that referred to unofficial street music charts and cassette compilations at the time. By combining the homophone ‘吉’ (Gil), meaning ‘good fortune,’ with the English word ‘BOARD,’ the album encapsulates Picheolin’s ambition to turn the streets into his stage, spreading joy and prosperity to all through his music.
Picheolin, the charismatic CEO and joyful producer of the fictional agency BOMG, is a character defined by warmth and an unmatched passion for ‘Heung’ (a Korean term for hype). Originally introduced during SEVENTEEN’s 2021 fan meeting, he now steps into the spotlight as a “Producer on the Streets,” transforming the stories of everyday people into a vibrant remix of tracks that resonate with a deep sense of community and celebration.
Previewing a well-made kitsch aesthetic, a trailer dropped today features Picheolin across different eras—from a prehistoric figure who discovered rhythm before language to a futuristic hero in 2126 who brings planetary peace through new beats. The narrative culminates with the present-day “2026 Picheolin” locking eyes with the camera in his trademark sweet, affectionate gaze, heightening the curiosity for the journey ahead.
The trailer also offers a glimpse into the album’s sonic direction, blending heavy beats with sophisticated saxophone sounds to create an infectious soundscape. Picheolin’s ringtone also catches the ear, revealing a snippet of a catchy melody with its lyrics, “I’m crazy, crazy. I must be crazy. I must be crazy for you”—a bold and addictive preview of the upcoming album.
While DINO embarks on a new trail as Picheolin, SEVENTEEN are also set to reunite with fans at their upcoming 2026 SVT 10TH FAN MEETING on June 20 and 21 in Incheon, Korea.
