Ediza Ferris likes to call herself a professional laugher. Her fans and followers know her for the hilarious content she posts on Tik Tok and Instagram, but Ediza is much more than that. Her content is a glimpse into her life and experiences as a woman and a mother, but it is her honesty about the difficulties of motherhood and her struggle with Postpartum that really resonate with her legions of fans. Vents Magazine was lucky to be able to get an exclusive interview with Ediza about her career so far and her future plans.
1. How did you get started in the entertainment industry?
When I was younger, I got started through John Robert Powers. I always wanted to be in television and film and at the time I would listen to the radio and their ads would play over and over again, and I would beg my mom to put me in acting classes. And then once I started doing the acting classes, I got an agent and it was great because they put me out for a bunch of auditions and I did land a commercial that played in Asia. But actually, what brought me back into the industry was my children were represented by my current agency and when I decided that I wanted to get into acting, my daughter’s agent signed me right away.
2. How did you get started doing Tik Tok?
During the pandemic, I was looking for a source of entertainment and I just absolutely fell in love with TikTok and then Instagram started coming out with their reels, so I moved a lot of my content to Instagram. And I’ve just been on social media ever since.
3. How do you come up with ideas for content?
It’s usually something that’s either on my mind or something will kind of trigger what my videos will be. Initially I started doing a lot of Mom comedy. Just a lot of relatable Mom content. Then I started getting into laughing at funny comments. And now it’s just kind of life updates, things that I find funny. Experiences that I just really love to share with my audience because I find it hilarious.
4. What do you hope your followers take away from your TikTok videos?
I hope they laugh! Because typically the things that I do I personally find funny, so I love to share that laughter and that funniness with other people. I do like sharing updates about what’s going on in my career just because while I’m not posting, I’m obviously doing other work, so I like to keep people updated with that.
5. What is the biggest hurdle you’ve ever faced in your life?
Motherhood by far. I knew going in that motherhood was going to be hard. I just didn’t realize how hard it would be. I’ve been very open on my social media channels and with friends and family about my experience with Postpartum Depression and Postpartum Anxiety. That is a very big hurdle that I’ve been still hurting to this day. I talk about it very openly because it is something that I want people to understand because if I don’t seem all there all the time it’s most likely because of that particular condition or the symptoms that I am experiencing. However, as of recently 2 1/2 years after I had my son, I’ve just started to feel a little bit more normal than I had been and that was an entire six year experience now that my daughter is six years old because I had postpartum depression and postpartum anxiety with my daughter as well.
6. What do you most love about being an actor? What do you most love about being an Influencer?
What I love most about being an actor is being able to exercise my emotional instrument. I loved to perform more than anything and that’s because I’ve always had that instrument inside me that I’ve always wanted to play and perform for people. I love bringing life and bringing texture to words that are on a page and above all I love storytelling. As far as being an influencer, I love being able to connect with people and share things with my audience that I can just freely share. I also like being able to create content or skit or video on the fly and be able to just perform it and post it whenever.
7. Do you have any upcoming projects you can share?
You’re looking at her! Lol. I’m a constant project! This year for 2025 I decided to kind of really professionally create my own personal brand. Which means building my website out and really organizing all of my content into one place. I plan to do a little bit more on social media and collaborate with other artists that I really admire. And as far as upcoming acting projects, all of those are still on the horizon. I love currently training with my acting school, LA Acting Studios and working with my acting coach Ami Linden. I think those are two places that I have been working with and exercising. My emotional instrument has been an incredible source of training for me. So once those bigger opportunities come this year, I feel like I’ll be ready. I’m also thinking of expanding into YouTube and Facebook as well so if anybody knows anybody at Facebook, let me know lol I have a couple questions ha ha ha.
8. Where can we follow you on social media?
You can find me mostly on Instagram, but also on TikTok! I also post a lot of my content on Facebook as a recently so feel free to find me there!
