INTERVIEW: Amongst Liars

1. Hi guys, welcome to VENTS! How have you been? –

James: Pretty sweet dude, got an exciting year ahead of us so we’re pretty pumped!

2.. “Repair Myself” sounds like an interesting track title—what does this track represent for you as the start of a new era?

Leo: The track title maybe unintentionally does come across in a double meaning with this rebirth I must admit. We feel the track is fresh and exciting and is totally different to anything we have done before which is ideal for us moving forward with the change and shake up of the band.

3. With Leo stepping in as lead vocalist, how has that shift changed the band’s dynamic both creatively and personally?

James: We really wanted to go back to our roots and bring back a punky edge. This is something we’re exploring both in our music and our image/stage presence. Ultimately though we want to put on a good show and write music that both we and our fans love.

4. The song does a great job balancing introspection with intensity—what inspired the lyrical themes behind the song?

Leo: For me writing the song was all about my personal experiences and my certain struggles with a side of my life that I want to do better at. But its about recognising your faults but also about recognising it doesn’t define you as a person and that while you acknowledge the bad, you need to take a step back and weigh in the good you do and the person you are in most areas of your life

5. You’ve cited influences like Rage Against the Machine, Bring Me the Horizon, and Queens of the Stone Age—how do those inspirations manifest in your current sound?

James: Each of those bands have such a massive sound. They’ve got amazing riffs, catchy choruses and an atmosphere which just makes the crowd go mental. But we also want to keep our unique sound as well, it’s part of what makes us, us!

6. Compared to your earlier material, how would you describe the evolution listeners will hear in this new chapter?

James: We focussed a lot on mental health and politics etc before but this time around we want people to feel empowered – so embrace who you are and to be proud of it. So if I were to give any word, I’d say the theme of our next album would be ‘integrity’

7. Your live shows have built a strong reputation—how do you translate that same energy into the studio when recording tracks like this?

Leo: I think ultimately, we’re all really passionate about what we do and we’re all best mates. So it doesn’t really matter where we are, whether it’s on stage, in the studio or even just having a drink together – we bring a lot of fire and enthusiasm to the room and I think that is reflected in what we write

8. Having shared stages with artists like Ayron Jones and Theory Of A Deadman, what have you taken away from those experiences?

James: yes. Always make sure the bass guitar is working before the first song plays! Jokes aside, learning that the size of the stage is irrelevant I think is important. Doesn’t matter if you’re playing to 50 people or 3000 people – the most important thing is engaging your audience and giving them a show they will remember for the rest of their lives.

9. The title “Repair Myself” suggests growth and self-reflection—was there a specific moment or turning point that sparked this concept?

Leo: With this being the first track of the new area I guess the turning point is when I took the mantle to become the singer and it was a first crack at lead vocals and writing the lyrics. So the spark came from a different side of things not like a bad day or anything… I knew we needed to come out with a big first track and my focus was mainly to make sure we have the song that we are proud of

10. Visually, how does the music video complement the themes of the track?

James: We felt this song had a raw edge to it – so we wanted the video to match the energy. On top of that we filmed it at our home rehearsal rooms, which ties into the theme of us going back to our roots.

11. With 2026 marking a rebirth for the band, what can fans expect next—more singles, an EP, or something bigger on the horizon?

Leo: Well we don’t want to give too much away yet – but we’ve got some hot new songs on the way and a lot of big plans for 2026/27. But if you want a little taster of some of our new stuff before we publish them, you’ll have to come see us on tour!
