The Barefoot Bandit unleashes a reggae-empowered cover of ‘Guns Of Brixton’

Hailing from the South West, The Barefoot Bandit is back with his rendition of the classic seventies punk anthem ‘Guns of Brixton’ like you’ve never heard it before. Reinterpreting the track through their own distinctive lens, the single lands as an exciting slice of modern reinterpretation.

Transcending genre and ripping up the rulebook, The Barefoot Bandit’s emphatic take on the seventies hit just goes to show how far pop music can still be pushed. As a reggae-heavy swagger pulsates through the airwaves, the single elevates into a colourful barrage of DnB-filled energy. A wholly vivid offering, the group cement themselves as a pulsating force in the contemporary reggae soundscape, and we can’t wait to see what they do next.

”The original track feels as relevant now as it ever did. We didn’t want to just cover it – we wanted to reinterpret it through our lens. For us, that meant pushing the dub textures further, giving the brass real bite, and then accelerating into Drum & Bass – because that’s part of the same UK lineage. Reggae, punk, rave culture – they all speak to each other. This record is our way of stitching those threads together.”
