Hard rock band SCARECROW, founded by vocalist, writer, and producer John Blaze, is roaring back into the spotlight with the release of their powerful new radio track “TWISTED.” The single marks a bold new chapter for the band while celebrating a legacy that stretches back to the late 1980s.
Formed in 1989, SCARECROW quickly made waves in the hard-rock underground. The original lineup included drummer Jim Harris, bassist Rickie Panzica (Rick Anthony), and guitarist Eddie Ojeda of Twisted Sister. With Blaze’s gritty, scratch-edged vocals and the band’s hard-pounding sound, SCARECROW built a reputation for electrifying performances and theatrical rock storytelling.
Their debut show at the legendary Sundance nightclub on Long Island in September 1989 blew the roof off the venue and immediately established the band as one to watch. From there, SCARECROW recorded and toured extensively, eventually signing with Redlight Records and releasing a debut album that gained attention from rock fans both in the United States and overseas.
Over the years the band evolved through several lineup changes, including the addition of guitarist Jimmy Quinn and drummer Bobby Marks of Humble Pie. Despite the shifts, the band’s core identity—driven by Blaze’s intense songwriting and theatrical stage presence—remained intact.
In the 2020s, Blaze expanded the SCARECROW universe even further by creating a theatrical stage production titled “I AM SCARECROW,” bringing the darker persona of the band’s central character to life through performance, storytelling, and music. A retrospective compilation, Best of SCARECROW, followed, featuring contributions from acclaimed musicians including Danny Miranda, known for performing with Queen alongside Brian May and Paul Rodgers.
Now, SCARECROW storms into 2026 with “TWISTED,” a modern rock anthem inspired by Blaze’s long-standing friendship with legendary rocker Dee Snider and the members of Twisted Sister. Snider appears on the track delivering electrifying guest vocals during the song’s second verse, bridge, and choruses.
The song also features violin work by Mark Wood of Trans-Siberian Orchestra, lead guitar by TJ Jordan, and drums by Bobby Marks. Blending classic hard-rock intensity with a contemporary radio sound, “TWISTED” represents one of the most dynamic releases in the band’s history.
The single is now available across major streaming platforms including Spotify and iTunes, with a music video currently in development and live performances planned throughout 2026.
With decades of music behind them and a bold new era unfolding, John Blaze and SCARECROW continue to push forward—proving that true rock and roll never fades.
SCARECROW — the best is yet to come.
