Krischvn finds himself on WAKAAN after previous offerings for Never Say Die’s Black Label platform and Quality Goods Records – this time sharing the four-track Baked EP.

In reference to its title, he says: “You know what’s crazy? When I titled it ‘Baked’ I had no idea that Americans used this term as getting high. I first imagined baking something in an oven, or like when your brain is just so fried from life.

The all-consuming “Baked” is given three further versions here, each slightly differing and adding a fresh spin to proceedings. You can find “Second Baked,” Over Baked” and “Stop Getting Baked” – each filled with Krischvn’s signature heavy basslines and rhythmical drum programming.

Make sure you get your fill of “Baked” on the stream below.

TVBOO & DMVU Share Banger For WAKAAN https://ventsmagazine.com/2020/03/27/tvboo-dmvu-share-banger-for-wakaan/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=tvboo-dmvu-share-banger-for-wakaan https://ventsmagazine.com/2020/03/27/tvboo-dmvu-share-banger-for-wakaan/#respond Fri, 27 Mar 2020 13:10:45 +0000 https://ventsmagazine.com/?p=287035 WAKAAN, the bass label founded by Liquid Stranger, has just served up a killer sound from artists TVBOO (making his debut on the platform) and DMVU. Together they drop “Eat My Sass,” which is a welcome distraction from the current climate.

In what should have been an accompaniment to their tour of the same name (now postponed), this record goes in heavy from the off. Meandering, splintering melodies and guttural bass thumps are the backbone, with some fresh rhythmical energy adding contrast.

Bassheads: assemble! Listen to “Eat My Sass” below.

Rootkit Makes bitbird Debut With “Only Knew” https://ventsmagazine.com/2020/03/27/rootkit-makes-bitbird-debut-with-only-knew/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=rootkit-makes-bitbird-debut-with-only-knew https://ventsmagazine.com/2020/03/27/rootkit-makes-bitbird-debut-with-only-knew/#respond Fri, 27 Mar 2020 12:57:20 +0000 https://ventsmagazine.com/?p=287576 Oslo producer Rootkit makes his debut on bitbird this month and now he’s teamed up with vocalist Nevve for the truly stunning track “Only Knew” – and it may be our favourite release of his to date.Straddling the lines between future bass and pop each beat lingers for a moment as the producer designs a euphoric atmosphere, easy to get lost in. Meanwhile, Nevve slays this vocal performance, adding depth of emotion and rawness to the track.

The producer reveals: ‘‘Only Knew’ was made after I received some vocals from Nevve. I decided to try a lot of different things with the vocals and ended up with 2 versions of the song. The version first being released I wanted to refresh my old drumstep style of music and hopefully in the way bring something new to the table.

I tried giving it a unique sound to the drop, and make something which people might not have heard earlier. At the end of the track there is a very short outro with a hip-hop vibe, just to tie together the whole track and give it all a unique vibe. It’s a track people can listen at home and get inspired from, while it’s also made to be played on big speakers and be enjoyed in live sets.’’

With further releases for bitbird in the works and a full album coming later in the year, Rootkit is set for a strong year ahead. “Only Knew” is taken from Rootkit’s forthcoming EP, set to drop later in the year. Listen here.

ALGO Creates Some Heavy Hitters In “Bruiser” EP https://ventsmagazine.com/2020/03/24/algo-creates-some-heavy-hitters-in-bruiser-ep/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=algo-creates-some-heavy-hitters-in-bruiser-ep https://ventsmagazine.com/2020/03/24/algo-creates-some-heavy-hitters-in-bruiser-ep/#respond Tue, 24 Mar 2020 15:34:07 +0000 https://ventsmagazine.com/?p=286981 ALGO is on hand to bring us through these mad times, and he has an EP to do just that with. The Las Vegas based producer has just released Bruiser through GRVNDCR and it’s full of wall-slapping bass gems that we can’t get enough of.

He says on reflection: “I am super excited to finally release the ‘Bruiser’ EP on GRVNDCR. A lot of these songs have been sitting in the vault for sometime. This is indefinitely my “banger” EP in the sense that all of these tunes are the ones that cause the most mayhem in my live performances – stoked to finally release it to you all!”

There is upfront bass mania with the opening title track, and the tempo is raised and then swiftly dropped with “Enormous Crack.” Hitting a classic “wub-filled” vibe is “No Benefit,” and prepare to be floored by the final EP tune “Phunky Phat” – an undisputed banger.

Check out the lot here.

Lead single this time is “In My Head,” which builds with textured layers of electronic melodies and a quivering mesh of percussion that pushes towards its singalong chorus. Also featuring is “If You Will/Hollow’ and the stunning “I’m Sorry.”

He fuses his funky sound with their keys and percussion to form a live band, reminiscent of Louisiana funk-rock.

The four-track EP opens with the highly addictive “Nobody Else,” shortly followed by “Dear Weed Man” – an anthemic reggae jam that is sure to become a crowd favourite. Next up is the epic biblical funk of “Disco Moses” with Boogie T and Yano sharing the vocal duties. Closing the four song EP is the haunting yet uplifting “Free.”

Discussing the release, BOOGIE T.RIO share: “We’re hoping that the ‘Remedies’ EP has something for everyone. Whether you need to relax, get over a heartbreak, get inspired, or just have a good time, we want the music to help bring you wherever you need to go. SONDR And VIZE Combine Musicality For “Kids” https://ventsmagazine.com/2020/03/10/sondr-and-vize-combine-musicality-for-kids/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=sondr-and-vize-combine-musicality-for-kids https://ventsmagazine.com/2020/03/10/sondr-and-vize-combine-musicality-for-kids/#respond Tue, 10 Mar 2020 18:23:53 +0000 https://ventsmagazine.com/?p=284400 With millions of streams and plenty of instantly recognisable singles to their names, the pairings of SONDR and VIZE have been brought together for a new release. Out right now through Ultra Music is “Kids,” which has been produced by both acts and has songwriting from the esteemed Shy Martin.

Hitting a sweet spot with the rich tones of Lilly Ahlberg and some juicy groove, “Kids” stands out as a punchy pop record this week. The London based SONDR say: “We had a great time working with VIZE and Lilly Ahlberg on this record. We always like to include organic instrumentation in our songs, but this is the first time we used a string orchestra. Between the orchestral arrangements, Lilly’s indie-leaning vocal and VIZE’s signature “Slap House” style we feel we have created a unique sound with this record. Everything fell into place naturally and we are really happy with the outcome!”

Chet Porter Brings Alison Wonderland On Board For “Bummed” https://ventsmagazine.com/2020/03/06/chet-porter-brings-alison-wonderland-on-board-for-bummed/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=chet-porter-brings-alison-wonderland-on-board-for-bummed https://ventsmagazine.com/2020/03/06/chet-porter-brings-alison-wonderland-on-board-for-bummed/#respond Fri, 06 Mar 2020 13:39:45 +0000 https://ventsmagazine.com/?p=283585 Ultra Music has just shared the new artist collaboration from Chet Porter and Alison Wonderland. They turn up the heat with the vocal indie/dance cut “Bummed,” which sounds delicious in the spring sunshine. Landing just before Porter’s North American tour kicks off (head here for full info), this track is definitely worth checking out.

With Porter’s trademark psychedelic vibes shining through, it has vocals from both singers in the mix alongside honed percussion and wavy synth melodies. He says: I wanted to make a song that had a cool vibe and it turned out very indie-leaning. I played an older version of it for Alison Wonderland one day and she instantly started humming this chorus melody over it, so she wrote some lyrics and we recorded it all within like 10 minutes.

You can hear it below.

Vigiland Collaborate With MHA For “We Don’t Talk Enough” https://ventsmagazine.com/2020/03/04/vigiland-collaborate-with-mha-for-we-dont-talk-enough/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=vigiland-collaborate-with-mha-for-we-dont-talk-enough https://ventsmagazine.com/2020/03/04/vigiland-collaborate-with-mha-for-we-dont-talk-enough/#respond Wed, 04 Mar 2020 16:51:23 +0000 https://ventsmagazine.com/?p=283203 We’re welcoming Swedish act Vigiland firmly into 2020 with their first single of the year. Out now through Universal Sweden is “We Don’t Talk Enough,” which has been made alongside newcomer producer MHA.

It sounds like Vigiland have found their way with their current sound. Moving away from some of the heavier, club-orientated pieces like “Shots & Squats,” they have created something melodic with this pop-injected beat. Featuring a catchy chorus as well as lightly soaring vocals, we’re giving this one several plays.

Check it out here.
