Malaysia’s Rising Sound Hits SXSW 2026 with Zamaera’s “Made in Malaysia” Stage

For the first time ever, Malaysia will take over a stage at South by Southwest (SXSW). Curated and headlined by rapper and producer Zamaera, the Made in Malaysia showcase on March 15 at Las Perlas will feature five of the country’s most exciting independent artists, bringing Malaysia’s sound to a global audience for the first time.

Zamaera leads the charge with her signature blend of hip-hop, trap, and electronic beats. Alongside her are R&B vocalist Murty, delivering smooth, melodic tracks; indie singer-songwriter Zoe Tan, whose intimate, layered songs connect local culture with universal emotion; hyperpop and hip-hop artist Lil Asian Thiccie, whose high-energy, genre-bending sound is impossible to ignore; and electronic producer I-SKY, known for immersive techno and EDM sets. Texas-based DJ VÖ.A_2000 opens the night with infectious beats that set the tone for the showcase.

Malaysia’s independent music scene has been quietly building for years, fusing local languages, traditions, and multicultural influences with global genres. The Made in Malaysia stage is a milestone, giving these artists a platform to reach a worldwide audience and show that Malaysia’s sound is vibrant, diverse, and forward-thinking.

“Our music carries our culture, our stories, and our identity,” Zamaera says. “This stage is our chance to share that with the world.”
