New Platform MyTalent Launches in the Philippines With New Fan-Driven Artist Discovery Contest

A new music discovery platform is launching in the Philippines with a nationwide contest aimed at helping emerging artists gain exposure while giving fans a direct role in discovering the next breakout star.

The platform, called MyTalent, is preparing for its global debut later this year and has chosen the Philippines as the starting point for its first artist discovery competition. The initiative brings together independent musicians, fans, and music professionals in a format designed to highlight new talent while building a community around music discovery.

Artists entering the contest can upload performances to the platform, including original songs, covers, or live recordings. As the competition progresses through several rounds, performances are evaluated by industry professionals while fans help support and promote the artists they believe deserve wider recognition.

The winning artist will receive several opportunities intended to help accelerate their career, including a record deal, international radio airplay, and an interview in a major music magazine.

For the team behind MyTalent, the contest represents a different approach to music discovery — one that moves beyond traditional gatekeepers and streaming algorithms.

“We wanted to build something that allows fans to be part of discovering the next artist,” said Andre Myhre, who is involved in the launch of the platform. “Music discovery shouldn’t only be controlled by algorithms or industry insiders. Fans often recognize great music before anyone else.”

The Philippines was selected as the first launch market because of its strong music culture and active independent scene. Across the country, music plays a central role in everyday life, from church choirs and school performances to live shows in small venues and viral social media covers.

The country’s tradition of Original Pilipino Music continues to produce talented singers, songwriters, and bands across multiple genres, making the Philippines a natural starting point for a platform focused on discovering new artists.

“There is an incredible amount of talent in the Philippines,” Myhre said. “You see musicians performing everywhere, and the fans are extremely passionate about supporting artists.”

Myhren has experienced that enthusiasm firsthand. As a member of the band Metal Heads With Broken Hearts, he previously toured the Philippines and performed alongside local musicians.

“The crowds were incredibly supportive,” he said. “The energy from Filipino audiences is something you don’t forget.”

The platform’s launch will begin with an early-access phase known as the Backstage program, where the first group of artists will join ahead of the official global launch scheduled for June 1. During this stage, musicians will begin uploading performances and building their fan communities before the competition moves into its next rounds.

Fans who join the platform will be able to follow artists, share performances, and help expand their reach during the contest.

For once, the platform is also designed to reward the fans who help discover and support artists. Supporters can earn points by following musicians, sharing referral links, and participating in the community. These points can later be exchanged for rewards such as cash, exclusive merchandise, early access to new music releases, invitations to events, and sponsor-backed prizes.

One feature that sets MyTalent apart from many digital music platforms is its economic model. According to the company, 70 percent of all revenue generated on the platform is returned to its users — including both artists and fans. The company says this structure offers a more artist-friendly model than many traditional platforms, where the majority of revenue typically remains with the platform itself.

For independent musicians, platforms that create new pathways for discovery can play an important role in helping artists reach audiences beyond their immediate local scene.

Val Caroche, an independent artist who has spent years performing across the Filipino live music circuit, says exposure remains one of the biggest challenges for emerging artists.

“Filipino musicians have incredible ability and passion,” Caroche said. “The challenge has always been getting the opportunity for people outside your immediate circle to hear what you’re doing.”

He believes platforms that allow fans to participate in discovering artists can also strengthen the relationship between musicians and their audience.

“When listeners feel connected to an artist early on, the relationship becomes much stronger,” he said.

With its first nationwide contest now launching in the Philippines, MyTalent aims to create a discovery platform where artists, fans, and industry professionals work together to identify new talent.

In a country where music is constantly being performed in homes, small venues, and community gatherings, the next breakout artist may already be out there — waiting for the right audience to hear them.
