Carín León kicks off 2026 alongside one of the leading voices of the new generation of Mexican artists, Xavi, with “La Morrita,” a celebration of Mexican pride and contemporary courtship. The track is now available on all digital platforms. Listen/share HERE.
Written by León and Xavi alongside Alex Hernández, Fabio Gutiérrez, Luis Mexia and Édgar Barrera—who also produced the track—“La Morrita” showcases a fiery, high-energy huapango, the perfect rhythm to score this love declaration.
With an irreverent yet playful attitude, León and Xavi modernize traditional huapango with contemporary lyrical storytelling, fusing old-school courtship with digital culture: Instagram, flowers, and designer bags. The infectious chorus positions the track as an instant anthem on dance floors, reaffirming León’s position as the global ambassador of Música Mexicana by bringing Mexico’s intrinsic rhythms to the world stage without losing authenticity.
The single arrives less than a month after León’s double album release, Chapayeka and Chapayeka (Puro Chucky), continuing the Hermosillo native’s tradition of delivering holiday gifts to his fans.
“La Morrita” launches what promises to be a historic year for León. The singer is currently
nominated for the 2026 GRAMMY® Awards, where he’ll vie for his second consecutive win in the Best Regional Mexican Music Album (Including Tejano) category for his album Palabra
de To’s (Seca). In 2025, León secured his first GRAMMY® win thanks to his acclaimed album Boca Chueca, Vol. 1.
