Welp, the thing with writing Simpsons summaries for this era is that there is the occasional clip show. Those were phased out in time, mostly because only the network executives looking to save money liked them. Jon Vitti, who wrote the wraparounds for “Another Simpsons Clip Show,” even took his name off the episode. That kind of says it all.
This clip show had a theme, which was romance. Of course, this being The Simpsons there were plenty of clips of romance gone wrong, or affairs that almost were but weren’t. Then, in the end, Homer saves the day with a love story that turned out well: the story of Homer and Marge.
I mean, it’s fine. This is a clip show. There are some good clips and there are a few good jokes in the wraparounds, but ultimately this is, well, another Simpsons clip show. I can’t really be terribly enthusiastic about it. After all, the writers weren’t. The directors weren’t. I don’t care about FOX executives in the ‘90s saving money. You can barely call this an episode of The Simpsons. That’s only really true in name only. At least this is the last straight-up, generic clip show for a while.
