1.) We’re very excited to have some time today with acclaimed actor and entrepreneur Kurt Yue; greetings and salutations Kurt and thanks for taking time from a very busy schedule to speak with us here at Vents Magazine today! Before we meander down the celluloid Q&A pathway, how is the latter-half of 2025 finding you and yours?
Thanks for having me! The second half of 2025 has been really good! Between wrapping up some film work, going back into production for season 4 of Will Trent, and continuing to grow the Acting Career Center community, there’s been a lot happening. But I try to stay grateful through it all.
2.) Speaking of full schedules, major kudos and accolades on your bravura turn in the eagerly anticipated new major motion picture REGRETTING YOU which is set to captivate moviegoers when it premieres in theatres far-and-wide this October 24! Starting at the top – and for anyone not in the know – can you explain what REGRETTING YOU is about and how your character of the Doctor figures into the proceedings?
Regretting You is based on Colleen Hoover’s novel and tells a story about love, grief, and the complicated effects these emotions have on relationships. Without giving too much away, I play the doctor who becomes involved in one of the film’s most emotional and pivotal moments. I was grateful to contribute to such a powerful story.
3.) Did you know as soon as the screenplay for REGRETTING YOU from scribes Colleen Hoover and Susan McMartin landed on your professional desk that this was a production you wanted to be part of?
When I first saw the audition and saw the names attached to this project, it was an easy yes.
4.) You work with such a brilliant ensemble of thespians on REGRETTING YOU, including the likes of Allison Williams, Mckenna Grace, Dave Franco, Scott Eastwood, Mason Thames, Willa Fitzgerald, Clancy Brown, and Sam Morelos among others! What was it like exercising your own considerable acting chops alongside these heavy hitters?
The main cast was absolutely incredible. Allison Williams and Dave Franco are both total pros very generous scene partners who set a collaborative tone on set. I didn’t get a chance to work with Mckenna Grace on set but seeing her emotional depth in the final product is really inspiring. You learn a lot just by watching how people like that work.
5.) As the resident Doctor in REGRETTING YOU who assists Dave Franco and Allison Williams, did you do any type of Method Acting as far as researching the medical profession, hanging out with real doctors and the like?
I didn’t do any specific character research for this doctor role but since I’ve played so many doctors over the years, I feel like I’ve received enough of an education on the job that I can make it look pretty believable, haha.
6.) In your humble opinion, what differentiates REGRETTING YOU from the Distinguished Competition on the 2025 movie scene?
I love how this movie really leans into the messiness of family relationships and human relationships overall, especially when it comes to processing trauma. It’s one of those films that stays with you after the credits roll.
7.) Along with the upcoming October 24 theatrical release of REGRETTING YOU, word ‘round industry campfire has it that you’re currently back in production for the fourth season of the wildly popular HULU series Will Trent; congrats! Can you give our ever-inquisitive readers a hint or three as to what they can expect and look forward to with this new season?
Well, I have to be careful not to spoil anything! But I can say that Season 4 dives deeper into the personal relationships within the GBI and APD team. My character, Pete, continues to grow in his dynamic with the main characters, and we get to see new layers of how these characters support each other both on and off the job. Fans of the show are definitely in for some surprises and emotional payoffs. Not to mention more Betty!
8.) When you’re not wowing audiences with your acting, you’re also lauded as the founder of the online platform Acting Career Center; congrats again! Can you give readers the E! True Hollywood Story on how you came about founding Acting Career Center and what it means to you personally?
Acting Career Center started as a YouTube channel back in 2015. I had been slowly making the transition from a career in software development to acting full-time, and I wanted to share what I’d learned with other actors who weren’t based in major markets like LA or New York. Over time, it evolved into a full company that now includes online courses, coaching, and an online community called Actors Growth Lab. What means the most to me is seeing actors gain confidence, book roles, and find community. The industry can be tough and isolating, so creating a space where actors can learn, connect, and grow together has been one of the most rewarding parts of my career.
9.) The most recent real-life reenactment of author Mary Shelly’s Frankenstein – also known as Artificial Intelligence (A.I.) – is a concern for many folks both in and out of the entertainment industry. Can you share your own concerns about this rapidly advancing technology and the ‘Rear Window’ ethics which should be considered before pressing forward with this tech?
Coming from a tech background, I can certainly appreciate the amazing capabilities of AI. It is a fascinating tool but also a serious concern, especially for artists. I believe there is a responsible way to integrate new technology, but only if we prioritize ethics, consent, and compensation. My hope is that the industry continues to use AI as a way to enhance creativity, not exploit it or erase the human element that makes art meaningful.
10.) Final – SILLY! – Question: Favorite movie about the making of movies – Hollywood Shuffle, Living in Oblivion, Barton Fink, The Player, Swimming with Sharks, or The Big Picture?
That’s a tough one, but I’d probably say Living in Oblivion. It perfectly captures the chaos, frustration, and absurdity of indie filmmaking!
