Returning to the limelight, Bonneville are back with their latest creative output as they unleash their rendition of Led Zeppelin’s ‘Ten Years Gone’. The first follow-up to their album ‘Flying Machine’, the USA-based blues-rock outfit show no signs of slowing down.
Paying homage to the UK-born heroes, Bonneville’s cover of ‘Ten Years Gone’ shines a new contemporary light on the anthem. Clocking in at a tad over seven minutes, the guitar-based epic comes here packaged with all the finesse and beauty of the original, whilst expanding the soundscape with additional instrumentation with added muscle and shimmer. As a result, the release stands proud as a remarkable effort, cementing Bonneville as multi-faceted creatives.
Diving into the beauty of the song, the band’s guitarist Jeff Hayashi explains, “This song has great meaning to both Wes and me. We are both huge Zeppelin fans, and Jimmy Page is in the top three influences of my guitar playing. I got my first Zeppelin album when I was five years old. This song has always resonated with me due to its anthemic quality and melancholy, but heavy vibe. I have always regarded the guitar work – especially the solo – as some of Jimmy Page’s best and most refined work. Led Zeppelin very rarely performed this song live, and when you break it down, you can see why. To pull it off live, they would have needed at least one additional guitarist.”
