London’s own Sofia Gobbi is back with the release of her punchy new plugged-in single ‘Idk’. Hot on the heels of the release of viral fan-favourite ‘That Ass!’ earlier in the year, she looks to reaffirm herself as a rising star, with backing from the likes of BBC Radio 1.
Sporting punchy backbeats and silk-like synthesizers, ‘Idk’ quickly transforms itself into a punchy, chaotic anthem of fun and youth. Leaning into the wild energy of indie rock, with the introspective, commercial shine of pop music, ‘Idk’ takes cues from the likes of Wet Leg and Olivia Rodrigo. Penned about being lucky in love, the track sees Gobbi measure up against a relatable, unmissable anthem.
Diving into the release, she explains, “This song came from that feeling of being scared when something good happens, when part of you can’t help but wonder how long it will last before it’s taken away. I kept returning to the parallels between falling in love and being a criminal – the nerves, the sweaty palms, the knot in your stomach, and that lingering fear that what you’ve gotten away with might be stripped from you. Writing it was my way of working through the fear of self-sabotage, outside opinions, and the fragility of happiness. At its core, though, the song is about celebrating that even if a relationship ends, you still ‘got away’ with that person for a time—and that’s a beautiful win no one can ever take from you.”
