Mike Singer: Building a Security Empire from a Teenage Locksmith Dream

Born and raised in Wayne, New Jersey, Mike Singer discovered his entrepreneurial spirit early. At just seventeen, while most of his peers were focused on finishing high school, he founded All Secured Locksmith. The business gave him his first taste of ownership, responsibility, and what it meant to provide a service people could rely on. After gaining experience with several locksmith companies, he realized the industry could be taken in a better direction—one that combined technical expertise with values that put integrity and customer trust at the center.

In 1999, Singer launched Protection Technologies LLC, a company that would go on to redefine how security solutions are delivered. What started as a vision became a business that has now thrived for more than thirty-four years. Built on a recurring monthly revenue model, Protection Technologies has achieved steady growth without advertising, relying instead on referrals and reputation. The company has never carried debt, a reflection of Singer’s discipline and willingness to take risks with his own resources to ensure the long-term success of the business.

Singer’s journey wasn’t without challenges. In the early days, he took the gamble of investing his personal finances into the company and his employees, reinvesting every dollar until the business could sustain itself. It was a leap most people wouldn’t have taken, but it set the foundation for a company that now serves some of the largest organizations in the world, including federal agencies, critical infrastructure, and global enterprises.

Beyond his technical achievements, what defines Singer is his philosophy on leadership and life. He is direct, upfront, and unwavering in his belief that a promise must always be kept—even when it doesn’t benefit him. “Never stiff anyone, do what you say, and keep your word,” he explains, principles that have guided him through every stage of his career. This approach has earned not only respect in the industry but also loyalty from clients and employees alike.
