“Barstool Hero” is the New Album by Circus Mind

Barstool Hero is the album by Circus Mind, with the title track of the same name the New York band’s latest single which offers a lot to talk about for any critics and music fans looking for something not only deep but comprehensive and othodox compared to most of what you hear from their contemporaries. Circus Mind aren’t exactly classic rock, but they’re also not straight forward in their many subgenres either, because they can’t be summed up in one song, but “Barstool Hero” contains them to a rather mainstream number withstanding frontman Mark Rechler’s usual unmistakably included NOLA influence.

You might wonder where you’ve heard Circus Mind before, and you’ll just find that you’ve heard it because you’ve lived through the days when music was everywhere, not just on sound bites you hear while scrolling and might take a liking to in the dreadful process. “Barstool Hero” helps make you forget about all the mundane music today’s charts are full of, and it even makes you want to tell people rock is back and it’s as good as you daddy always talked about, and Circus Mind really mix it up as unit like no other rock band around today.

You get culture with Circus Mind, and “Barstool Hero” follows the classic rock structure with the voice of Mark Recher cutting through with his signature NOLA growl without emphasis, which can clearly be checked between this song and their entire back catalog. The searing guitar work of Duggan will always send you checking for more as well, as he is one hot guitarist along with Michael Mendola on saxophone, Matthew Fox on bass and Don Roth on drums backed by Steve Finklestein on percussion. Talk about a cooking band covering a mass array of way too many influences to mention, just listen and spot them by the many,

“Barstool Hero” gives the audience of Circus Mind something more to think about, as they usually do, and by the time I heard it three time I was hooked on everything about this band of which I am able to even know that much to help bring awareness to not only the song but the band. Circus Mind rock in a way bands like WAR, Bob Marley, David Bowie and Dr. John, Little Feat and a host of others all mashed into one soulful sound anyone can appreciate, so check out the “Barstool Hero” single.

Circus Mind really know how to craft good music from the past into something that doesn’t sound like any kind of rehash you can describe on “Barstool Hero” with its admixture of only the best genres that go together without fitting any square pegs into round holes. You only get what fits with Circus Mind, and nother more, but you also get introduced to something you’ve never imagined would even remotely go together as they do all the thinking for you. “Barstool Hero” is a throwback, but it’s also a slice of what’s hopefully to come from more artists daring to be this musical and taken seriously anymore.
