Looking to make waves with his debut release, Josef unveils ‘BADALNI WA7EED’, an Arabic-inspired alt-pop track that forges authenticity with identity. Driven to create a distinctive sound, the Dubai-born singer-songwriter-producer makes himself clear as a strong one to watch.
As gentle guitar arpeggios pour out of the speakers, Josef’s vocal quickly becomes the centre-piece of the single before swelling synthesisers and driven guitar licks take over. Taking inspiration from Eastern riffs and melodies, ‘BADALNI WA7EED’ takes cues from the likes of Dominic Fike and Saint Levant, not without lacing the single with his own distinctive vibrance.
Commenting on the creative process behind the track, he chimes in, “Making this song felt like being a kid again. I was playing Grace by Jeff Buckley on my guitar in my flat and was amazed by the chords that his tuning could make. I kept tweaking and noodling until I found something I liked.”
