Introspective indie-folk duo Wells Ferrari – Will Wells and Mikey Ferrari – have announced their upcoming sophomore EP Wasted Time (out September 26 via Atlantic Records) alongside the release of its gritty, Americana-infused title track. Arriving on the heels of the SoCal pair’s evocatively optimistic single “Life After Death,” “Wasted Time” invites listeners into a cinematic world where dusty desert highways meet neon dreams. CLICK HERE to listen to the track and HERE to pre-save the Wasted Time EP – a collection that weaves heartfelt storytelling with raw acoustic soul and a modern Americana edge. With roots steeped in the songcraft tradition of bands like The Eagles, The Allman Brothers Band and The Head And The Heart, Wells Ferrari’s music simultaneously feels nostalgic and contemporary as their voices blend in undeniable harmonic bliss that’s strikingly personal to their artistic DNA.
Recorded during an escape from their homebase in Los Angeles to a dusty town in the shadows of Joshua Tree National Park, Wells Ferrari set-up shop for a weekend recording session with producer Garret Hall at a rented, desolate destination dubbed “The Adobe.” The barren confines quickly became a beloved, creative clubhouse for Wells Ferrari and the seven-song collection was born. Confessional, conversational and pure, Wasted Time sheds all artifice of affectation and mines the pair’s collective stormy past as prologue to a hopeful future. Love found and lost, hardship, doubt, and triumph – personal choices that pull us away or lead us back are the bedrock of the Wells Ferrari narrative and ever-growing repertoire.
Will and Mikey share this about creating music together, “Wasted Time is our second time getting to craft a collection of stories in an order that makes the most sense to us as writers. After our first EP Roots & Tides, it felt like we had a lot more songs to explore, write, and talk about. The Wells Ferrari sound has always been based around conversation — two voices talking through the emotional highs and lows of life. We invite fans and listeners into that conversation, with the goal of building community.”
This summer, the pair captivated audiences overseas while supporting frequent collaborator Evan Honer on his UK Tour, and they will join Matt Maeson on a string of Midwest dates later this fall. They create a layered and emotionally compelling live experience defined by warm acoustic textures and emotionally charged lyrics that’s not to be missed.
