Acclaimed American violinist, singer-songwriter, and genre-defying musician Deni Bonet is back with the release “All Around The World (Music Is Love),” the fifth single from her upcoming album Off The Record. Scheduled to arrive on all major streaming platforms in approximately one month, the track is a vibrant, celebratory anthem that explores the unifying power of music across cultures, continents, and hearts.
The inspiration for “All Around The World (Music Is Love)” traces back to Bonet’s transformative 2019 appointment as a U.S. Arts Envoy by the State Department. During her residency, she traveled to Zanzibar to teach songwriting, violin, and rock ‘n’ roll at the Dhow Countries Music Academy, sharing her expertise with students while embracing the island’s rich musical traditions. The residency culminated in a nationally televised concert sponsored by the U.S. Embassy in Dar es Salaam, highlighting music’s extraordinary ability to bridge differences and bring communities together.
Returning to Zanzibar on her own in January 2020, Bonet collaborated with the renowned Tanzanian band Stone Town Rockerz, inviting them into the studio to record for her forthcoming album. The resulting track, penned after Bonet’s return to New York City, reflects the rhythm, joy, and cross-cultural dialogue she experienced firsthand. “All Around The World (Music Is Love)” is both an homage to global connection and an anthem of hope, celebrating the power of collaboration, rhythm, and shared human experience.
The recording features Stone Town Rockerz members Erasto Omollo and Richard Charahani on guitar and vocals, Alex Marcel on keyboard, Christopher Weston on drums, and Lumii Lumie on bass. Their infectious energy is complemented by an array of guest musicians from the U.S. and U.K., including Tim Ouimette on trumpet, Howard Levy on trombone, Sherryl Marshall and Sean Altman on vocals, and a choir of accomplished vocalists such as Richard Barone, Sara Hickman, Dina Regine, Bill Clift, Emily Cavanaugh, Chris Flynn, Kati Mac, and Marci Geller. Together, they create a layered, jubilant soundscape that perfectly captures the song’s celebratory spirit.
Music for the track was co-written by Bonet alongside Charahani, Omollo, Lumie, Marcel, and Weston, while the lyrics were penned entirely by Bonet. Production and arrangement were helmed by Bonet, James Frazee, and Paul Bevan, with engineering by Chilly K at Action Music Studio in Zanzibar and additional engineering by Frazee at HOBO Studio. The track was mastered by Scott Hull at Masterdisk, ensuring a polished and dynamic sound that conveys both intimacy and grandeur.
“All Around The World (Music Is Love)” embodies the essence of Bonet’s artistry: a seamless fusion of virtuoso musicianship, heartfelt songwriting, and a commitment to cross-cultural exchange. The track resonates as a reminder that music is not only a form of personal expression but also a universal language capable of inspiring connection, empathy, and hope across the globe.
As anticipation builds for the full release of Off The Record, Bonet continues to solidify her reputation as a visionary artist who bridges genres, communities, and continents through her music. “All Around The World (Music Is Love)” is a jubilant preview of the musical journeys and collaborations that await listeners on the album, a celebration of rhythm, harmony, and shared humanity.
