I am waiting for you last summer Announce New LP + Share “Nulla” Single + Video

Formed in Ryazan, Russia in 2011 at a This Will Destroy You concert, the cinematic post-rock, industrial electronic, and ambient abstract project I am waiting for you last summer returns with a new album, Without/Within, and lead single, “Nulla,” due out July 30th.

The core concept behind Without/Within centers on a deep interest in consciousness—how it emerges, how it perceives, and how it divides the world into “inner” and “outer,” band memberSasha Sokolov explains.

Initially founded by Sokolov and Evgenii Popov, and later joined by Lev Nikitin to expand the project’s electronic dimension, IWFYLS are known for their immersive live performances—meticulously crafted audiovisual environments that are kinetic, unpredictable, and charged with a near-physical intensity.

This relentless pursuit of motion has taken them across the world, from SXSW and dunk!festival to Magnetic Fields, where they have shared stages with This Will Destroy You, 65daysofstatic, Alcest, and Rosetta. This widescreen approach is no accident: Sasha Sokolov’s work on major film trailers (Jurassic WorldCaptain America: Winter Soldier) brings a cinematic gravity to the band’s sound—each track unfurling like a scene from a film yet to be made.

The lead single, “Nulla,” is an epic existential journey through time and space, building in intensity and sonic depth. Sokolov explains: “Nulla” was inspired by the idea that we — as living matter — are part of an evolving process that, at some point, begins to question itself. There’s something powerful in the image of consciousness emerging from the same material that forms stars and planets — and then turning inward to ask: What am I? What is this?

While working on this track, I wanted to reflect that recursive feeling — the sense of something vast and impersonal becoming aware of itself. Conceptually, the music moves in circles between the intimate and the transcendent, between our subjective experience and the questions it generates when faced with nothingness.
