Legendary DJ and dance music pioneer Paul Oakenfold and rising star, singer songwriter, Jessica Sweetman unleash a bold, high-energy reinvention of Nancy Sinatra’s timeless hit “Bang Bang” with a dark, hypnotic twist.
The electrifying new single, out today, transforms the moody 1966 classic into a pulsating club record that blends Oakenfold’s signature trance-laced production with Sweetman’s sultry, haunting vocal delivery. The result is a cinematic, late-night anthem that’s already generating buzz on dancefloors across Ibiza and London.
“I’ve always loved Bang Bang for its raw emotion and atmosphere,” says Oakenfold. “I wanted to respect the original while giving it a completely new context — something you can lose yourself to in the club at 3AM. Jessica brought an incredible edge to it.”
Jessica Sweetman brings both nostalgia and reinvention to the track with a vocal performance that is equal parts vulnerable and fierce — a perfect foil to the brooding, bass-heavy production.
“Bang Bang has always struck a chord with me — there’s something timeless and raw in its songwriting. It’s powerful and there’s a lot of emotion beneath the surface,” says Sweetman. “When Paul and I began working on this version, I wanted to bring something fresh but still respectful of the original. For me, it’s about taking heartbreak and turning it into a strength, but also a kind of feminine reckoning – elegant, cinematic, and powerful. The track has a dark energy – something you can feel and move to.”
The release marks the first record in Oakenfold and Sweetman’s creative partnership with more tracks dropping later this year.
