R&B Sensation Tim Johnson Jr. Soars with New Album Fly Girl

R&B artist, actor, and performer Tim Johnson Jr. is back with his third studio album, Fly Girl—a vibrant fusion of R&B, pop, dance, Motown soul, and New Jack Swing that pays homage to the past while pushing forward with a fresh, modern sound. Released on his own independent label, City Boy Jr., the album reflects the unmistakable influence of icons like Michael Jackson, Babyface, and Luther Vandross, all while spotlighting Johnson’s smooth vocals, irresistible hooks, and undeniable charisma.

Every track on Fly Girl was co-written and co-produced with his father, Tim Johnson Sr., in what has become a true family tradition. The album explores the many layers of love—from flirtation and infatuation to deep emotional connection and even divine compassion. Standouts include the infectious title track “Fly Girl,” the dreamy “The View is Better with You,” the seductive “Don’t Hold Back,” and the uplifting closer “Everyday People”—a heartfelt anthem inspired by God’s love for humanity.

“Music has always been a family affair,” says Johnson Jr. “I grew up in my dad’s studio, learning how to shape sound and emotion into a song. Everything we create together is rooted in love, purpose, and authenticity.”

That authenticity extends far beyond the recording booth. Tim Johnson Jr. first captured hearts on stage as Young Simba in Disney’s The Lion King (Las Vegas) and now stars as Young Chris Rock in the hit animated series Everybody Still Hates Chris on Comedy Central. He also won over viewers and industry vets alike when he competed on FOX’s The Four, where he earned praise from Meghan Trainor, DJ Khaled, and host Fergie.

With Fly Girl, Johnson Jr. isn’t just delivering another album—he’s inviting listeners into a soulful, feel-good journey that’s equal parts nostalgic and new.
