Miami-based singer, songwriter, and producer Michael Lazar release his new single “Daydreaming”. The track serves as the title song for his upcoming EP Daydreaming, arriving July 25, 2025, and offers a strong preview of the project’s emotionally rich, genre-blending sound.
Combining wistful piano melodies with atmospheric synths, “Daydreaming” captures the emotional pull of imagined love. The track marks a confident step forward for Lazar, who continues to carve out a distinct space in the indie-pop landscape with his cinematic production and introspective lyricism.
The full EP expands on the themes introduced in the single, offering a cohesive six-song journey through longing, hope, and personal transformation. From the golden-hour shimmer of “Magic Hour” to the pulsing ache of “Want Me Back,” Lazar crafts a pastel-toned sonic world grounded in vulnerability. The EP also features a reimagined version of “Can’t Help Falling in Love,” a tender reflection in “By My Side,” and concludes with “Life of the Butterfly,” a poetic meditation on growth and letting go.
Five of the six tracks were written by Lazar and all six were performed and produced by the artist. The EP was mastered by Michael Banks of UEFO, whose previous work on Lazar’s 2021 debut album, 51/49, helped establish the warmth and emotional clarity that have become hallmarks of his sound.
Visuals accompanying the project were created in collaboration with award-winning photographer Dennis Dean, with artwork inspired by vintage photography and dreamlike natural motifs. Monarch butterflies, featured throughout the imagery, were raised by Lazar in his backyard — a personal practice he began following the loss of his mother.
“Raising butterflies became something really healing for me,” Lazar says. “It’s a lot like making music — you start with something small and fragile, and slowly watch it grow into something beautiful.”
The single “Daydreaming” will be available May 16 on all major streaming platforms. The Daydreaming EP releases July 25, 2025.
