INTERVIEW: Pop-punk Disruptors Neutral Snap

We’re super-excited to have some time today with acclaimed pop-punk rebels extraordinaire, Neutral Snap; greetings and salutations gang and thanks for taking time out of a busy schedule to speak with us here at Vents Magazine! Before we dive into the Q&A mosh-pit, could you all say ‘hi’ and introduce yourselves to our ever-inquisitive readers?

Hi everyone! I’m Dan and I’m on the bass! What’s good y’all! I’m PJ and I smack the drums! My name is JP and I play guitar. I’m Josh and I sing and play ukulele!

Major kudos and accolades on the freshly-minted new Neutral Snap single Danny ACOG which is set to light up record charts across the ever-loving globe when it drops this June 6! J.P., starting at the tip-top, can you talk about what inspired one of the best singles of 2025?

This song came straight off the dome for us at Tom Denney’s home studio in Ocala, FL. When we showed up he had some basic riffs he was tinkering with and our combined creativity skyrocketed from there. We had the entire song pretty much written and fleshed out in about 5 hours or so.

Joshua, who did the producing honors on Danny ACOG and what did the in-studio collaboration between artists and producer look like while fashioning and shaping this new gem of a ditty?

We teamed up with Rob Freeman (Hidden in Plain View) at Audio Pilot Studios in New Jersey and really brought this song and the rest of the EP to life! Rob did a really great job of coaching us through the production process. He gave us space to push our creative boundaries, and also helped us pull back and stay on track lol! When recording, there was a lot of communication, and a lot of shared ideas going back and forth! He’s honestly so fun to work with.

Dan, in your humble opinion what differentiates Danny ACOG from the Distinguished Competition on the 2025 music scene?

Danny ACOG has a sound that we’ve grown into and developed through 10+ years of writing music. The incredibly catchy chorus keeps you in and we then hit you with a bridge that kicks ass. I really think Danny ACOG, and the rest of the coming EP, capture our personality and our unique interests in pop punk perfectly.

P.J., we absolutely love and dig the companion music video for Danny ACOG which also premieres this June 6; congrats! How involved overall was the band in the final look and feel of the video?

Thank you so much! We are very excited to get the video and new music out! But to answer your question, I feel like we were very involved! Bouncing ideas back and forth between the editor and us was very easy. We all were on the same page to make sure the video felt exciting and almost comical, just how you should feel at our live shows!

The band was involved heavily since it showcases all of us and the energy we bring when we play music live! Our homie Mackenzie Andrews took all the film content she got of us over the years and mashed it up into an energetic masterpiece. She also asked us for some creative freedom to make the subplot with her grandpa about him reminiscing of when he used to play in a band years ago. The nostalgia factor definitely hit all of us in the feels when we saw it and we immediately fell in love.

J.P., in the wake of the June 6 release of the new Neutral Snap single Danny ACOG and its companion video, can fans look forward to catching the band on the touring/performing circuit?

We are going to be playing sporadically throughout the summer, including some local shows in the southern Louisiana area as well as a few touring dates. We are also gonna be spending a lot of time locking in on more video content to have so when we do start touring heavily, we will have a nice cache of videos to post while we are busy.

Joshua, should fans keep eyes and ears on full-alert for even more out-of-this-world music from Neutral snap as the year marches forward?

Oh, absolutely! This is a snap summer! We are releasing more music, posting more content, and some really great music videos. We’ve been gearing up for this release for a good bit now, and we are SO excited to show everyone what we’ve been working on!

Dan, how is the new single Danny ACOG similar to past music from Neutral Snap such as Yellow Suitcase? How is it different?

Danny ACOG is similar in that the structure, feeling, catchiness, and breakdowns are still there. Our songs have always had the same “feeling” but we haven’t captured it as purely as we have until we got to Danny ACOG. This new single is our most polished work yet.

P.J., Neutral Snap considers the beautiful city of New Orleans as its hallowed stomping grounds! How has this area which is drenched in music history informed the music of the band?

Being from New Orleans has influenced us a great deal when it comes to our energy and musicianship. We are part of such a diverse and vibrant music culture where we see unbelievably talented musicians playing on every corner in the city. Having dedicated our early lives to learning our instruments, we pride ourselves on being masters of our craft and putting all of our energy into the music we play.

J.P., any final thoughts you might like to share with fans and readers alike about the Neutral Snap single Danny ACOG and its companion music video?

I am so incredibly excited to finally be releasing all of our hard work to the world, I think that this is just going to be the start of something huge.
