Since his debut in 2023, Double Major has been leading a resurgence of Nu-Disco in the Pakistani music scene. Born in Karachi, Pakistan, although now based in Berlin, Double Major is a songwriter and producer inspired by the dance music that is so prevalent in Berlin. Double Major’s style toes the line of dance, funk and rave, often writing lyrics about love from heartbreak to playful new relationships. Now, Double makes a striking return to the limelight with his glowing new single, ‘RKR’.
Driving through the airwaves with an energetic, percussive backbeat, ‘RKR’ is made for the club dancefloor. Effortlessly blending retro-inspired refrains with groovy basslines, the track offers a glimpse into the neon-lit sound of Double Major. Diving into his recent release, Double Major shares, “I wanted to bring back the spirit of disco that was so present in the 70s and 80s in South Asia and combine it with the power of synth bass and dance music that Berlin is so deeply connected to. It is an attempt for me as an artist to reconnect with my Pakistani identity in the language, and create something new with that in combination with my growth as a musician here in Berlin.”
