Swift ‘Simpsons’ Summaries: “Marge Vs. The Monorail”

Well then. In the not-too-distant past, I discuss “New Kid on the Block,” the overlooked first (of only three) Simpsons episodes written by Conan O’Brien. There is one that is his definitive episode. That episode is “Marge vs. the Monorail.” That episode is this one.

I do concur that “Marge vs. the Monorail” is great. It’s quite silly, quite frivolous, but packed with great jokes. If you are reciting lines, it’s an excellent episode to have top of mine. There’s also the monorail song, perhaps the definitive Simpsons song. Yes, there is much to be said about “Marge vs. the Monorail.”

That being said! I don’t consider “Marge vs. the Monorail” a Hall of Fame episode. It is absolutely great! It’s definitely on the long list of great Simpsons episodes. However, it’s not in my top five, or even my top 10. It’s probably in my top 25, but it’s not on the Mt. Rushmore or anything. Many people would have it there…but is it because Conan wrote it? Possibly. Probably, even. Ah well.

Rest assured, I do believe anybody curious about The Simpsons should watch “Marge vs. the Monorail.” It’s a stellar episode. It’s just not special. It’s great, but it’s not even my favorite Conan episode.
