Vanessa J. Moore Releases New Single “Brand New Key”

Bringing back the era-defining Woodstock sound, folk soul artist Vanessa J. Moore has released her psychedelic new single “Brand New Key” via independent record label ZIQ STREET. A fresh take on Melanie’s chart-topping, quirky classic, Moore’s “Brand New Key” spins the original coming of age love song into a funk-infused plea for people to come together in a climate where we’re more divided than ever. CLICK HERE to listen to the track which reaches across the divide, inspiring people to share love within their community to create a domino effect throughout the world.

“‘Brand New Key’ was the first cover song we recorded and so many nostalgic memories are attached to it,” shares Moore on the new single. “I remember learning this song in a tiny tenement apartment and painting a bathroom while working on it. I just remember sitting on the bathroom floor and painting the walls as I heard my producer on the other side of the door, adding layers of magic to the track. It was such a trip.”

Kicking off the year with the release of “Morning Light,” a Beatles-esque slow jam that inspires peace and selflessness, Moore distills her love for music from the 60s and 70s into her distinctive yet contemporary artistry. Drawing from her influences which range from Stevie Wonder and The Beatles to Patsy KlineKaren CarpenterSheryl CrowChris Stapleton, and Sly and the Family Stone, and making a name for herself as an artist with a genre-defying sound who draws her lyrics from her own life experience, Vanessa is a gifted singer-songwriter who has turned to music as a lifeline to process her pain and heal.

With more music to come, Moore first found success as a principal ballet dancer before working as a visual artist and actress with icons such as Tony BennettMorgan FreemanMartin ScorseseMick JaggerRobert De Niro, and more.
