SPENCER SILVER MERGES OUTSPOKEN LYRICISM A “SOUTHERN GRUNGE” SENSIBILITY & SUBLIME TRADITIONAL STYLINGS ON DEBUT SINGLE “JENNY”

Ft. Lauderdale country rock singer-songwriter Spencer Silver is set to release his debut single, one that many would call “long-awaited” as he’s already gone viral with his musical chops courtesy of country superstar Zach Bryan. On a fateful day in 2024, Silver was invited on stage to try his hand at performing “Heading South” alongside the country superstar.  As literally millions of Bryan’s fans via social media can attest, Silver pretty much stole the show with his supercharged performance.

Fast forward a year and Silver is ready to share “Jenny”—a country rock stomper that pulls no punches lyrically or musically. The song is a classic tale of barely contained passion and lust set to a thunderous beat with crashing guitars anchored by Silver’s deep and gritty vocals.  The primal energy of the song is balanced out with sublime country styling– seamlessly placed fiddle, banjo, pedal steel guitar, dobro, mandolin and Hammond organ. Silver likes to call his sound “Southern Grunge.”

“Jenny” was recorded at The Power Station in Pompano Beach, Florida and co-produced by Silver, Brent Look (who’s played for Scott Stapp of Creed), and Paul Kronk, who also engineered the song. Multiple GRAMMY-winner Ted Jensen (The Eagles, Norah Jones), mastered the song. The song features an all-star cast of players including Silver (vocals, guitars, bass, piano and synth); Look (lead guitar and Hammond organ); Asleep At The Wheel’s Dennis Ludker (fiddle, mandolin, acoustic rhythm guitar), and Curtis Clogston (pedal steel, dobro); as well as Larry Jett (banjo), and Jamie Newitt (drums). “Jenny” is released digitally on May 2, via Edgewater Music Group, but today we got the exclusive listen a day prior.

Says Silver: “I had written music throughout my life, but never did I dream of actually releasing any.  When I had a one in a million moment at a Zach Bryan concert, the overwhelming response actually provided a new opportunity to finally record some of my material.

I wanted to start out with ‘Jenny’ because I feel it delivers a distinctive sound that blends traditional country and bluegrass instruments with a gritty grunge edge, creating a fresh twist that stands out from anything else I’ve been hearing.”
