The Dutch icon Don Diablo kicks off a new era for his very own record label and a community platform HEXAGON with his new single “Freek Like Me,” out now via his signature imprint – a release that doesn’t just introduce a boundary-pushing club record, but also marks the label’s monumental 10-year anniversary. A decade deep into shaping the future of electronic music, Don is taking HEXAGON into its next chapter, dubbed HEXAGON 2.0, with a refined vision: fewer releases, more impact, and a laser focus on quality over quantity, all without paying attention to feeding the algorithms. “Freek Like Me” embodies this evolution with a catchy, gritty spoken vocal hook riding over upbeat, piano-based synths and a dynamic bassline that fuses a four-on-the-floor house with hints of garage and a toned-down aesthetic. Since its launch in 2015, HEXAGON has become a global tastemaker, championing breakthrough talent and delivering chart-topping anthems. As the label rebrands and redefines its sound, this release stands as both a celebration and a statement: the next 10 years start here, and you can read about everything in Don Diablo‘s own words below.
“What started as a remix that hit number one on Beatport turned into something way bigger than I ever imagined. Over the past ten years, HEXAGON has grown into a global platform – not just a label but a movement, a family, and a launchpad for new talent. We’ve had the honor of working with legends like Major Lazer, Robbie Williams, MK, Jamiroquai, Galantis, Gucci Mane, and Felix Jaehn while helping shape the sound of a new generation. My “FORΞVΞR” album crossed a billion streams, and in 2020, I was named the most supported producer in the world on 1001Tracklists, built almost entirely on HEXAGON releases. That moment really said it all.
But as we celebrate ten years, it’s also time for a reset. We’re entering a new era where quality needs to win over quantity. ‘Freek Like Me‘ marks the start of HEXAGON 2.0 – a new chapter where every release is more intentional, more meaningful, and designed to truly connect with people, not just feed the algorithms. From a musical perspective, I’m going back to the essence — combining the classic house sounds I grew up with and futuristic sound design. I call it NeoNostalgia. Just like the early days of Future House – HOUSE is the FUTURE, and the FUTURE is HOUSE.
And beyond the music, my mission as an artist is to blur the line between the DJ and the crowd. I want to break the fourth wall and create a space where we’re all in it together. That’s the energy I’m chasing in 2025 and beyond. We’ve built something powerful with HEXAGON. Ten years in, and I truly believe the best is yet to come.” – Don Diablo
