BRIT-nominated, alt-pop star Charlotte Plank drops the anthemic ‘candy stores’ ahead of her highly anticipated EP ‘ClubLuminal’ set for release Friday 2nd May.
Out today, ‘candy stores’ is the latest addition to Plank’s forthcoming eight-track EP and is a euphoric hit produced by the unstoppable WhyTek, the duo behind hits like Central Cee’s Doja Cat, FLO’s Fly Girl and Aitch’s Taste (Make It Shake).
On ‘candy stores’, Charlotte said:
“It’s written about the weird dystopia we’re living in. The rush and race of everyday life and how everything can all get too much if you take it all too seriously with added societal pressures and constraints. Hence why I wanted to make something with no blueprint, boundaries or overthinking just to see what came out.”
Set to become a standout this year with its addictive chorus and jungle-infused ad libs, the track perfectly captures Charlotte’s brilliance – an unfiltered tale of chaos and coming of age.
“I write best when commenting on the world around me, romanticising everything so it almost feels like I’m soundtracking some modern fairytale or coming of age film – it feels epic, cinematic, but has real and relatable storytelling. ‘candy stores’ really explores that with its industrial, ethereal, anthemic feel. It’s a reminder to zoom out for a minute – if our minds are too overloaded with the pressures of daily life, insanity may get us first.”
