Directed by two-time Academy Award-nominated filmmaker Roland Joffé (The Killing Fields), November 1963 will examine the mystery and intrigue that enveloped one of the most significant moments in American history, promising an in-depth, fresh perspective directly from the individuals whose lives were forever changed by the intense 48 hours surrounding the assassination.
The film’s script is based on firsthand accounts, including exclusive insights from the Giancana family, particularly Sam Giancana. As the boss of the Chicago Outfit, one of the most powerful Italian-American criminal organizations in the United States during the 1950s and early 1960s, Giancana became widely known for his connections to the Kennedy family during John F. Kennedy’s presidential campaign and presidency.
Writer and producer Nicki Celozzi, nephew of Sam Giancana, says “The whole essence of the story, the project, why we are doing this, is that it came from Sam Giancana‘s brother, Pepe, who was in the room with him during these two days. The story, the screenplay is their story, my family story that specifically focuses on the ‘outfit’, Giancana, and their involvement in setting up the ‘assassination’ with the second shooter, who was sent there as a fail safe backup and implemented.”
In addition to these eyewitness accounts, recent releases of previously classified JFK files have shed new light on the intricate details of the events surrounding President Kennedy’s assassination, lending an unprecedented level of authenticity and validity to the film’s portrayal of this critical moment in history. These newly released documents, which have been scrutinized by experts and historians, confirm many of the details woven into November 1963, further cementing the film’s commitment to historical accuracy and truth.
November 1963 is set to begin production in Canada in Spring 2025, and will be produced by Kevin DeWalt of Mind’s Eye Entertainment and Nicki Celozzi of Le Monde Productions. Celozzi also serves as the film’s writer. International sales is being handled by Daniel Baur of K5 International.
